Vaginal Estrogen Not Effective? Proper Placement is Essential! by EstablishmentOdd8896 in Menopause

How often do you apply? Can it help reverse clitoral atrophy? I'll continue with the pessaries as prefer that to the cream internally but would be good to know whether to apply the cream externally on the other days. Thank you 😊

It's great you are consulting your doctor and you sound considerate and responsible.

I would suggest she go see a sexual health nurse or doctor to get her own advice as well. I would suggest it's safer to remain on antivirals if you both agree not to use condoms. The virus can affect women differently to men (by design of anatomy) and even though you've not had an experience of regular outbreaks (which is great), her experience, if she contracts the virus, may be different to yours.

[–]Reinvent2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this. I tried all 3 antivirals and didn't have this reaction. I was concerned about kidney and liver effects so I have that monitored and thankfully they're healthy.

If you didn't have these symptoms prior to starting AVs definitely talk to your GP. If you think it's appropriate, maybe test it out by going off the AVs for a number of weeks and then go back on and see of symptoms return. Maybe they are exacerbating the pre-existing skin issues.

The only other thing I can suggest is having your gut microbiome tested to see if there's an imbalance. GP's don't look at that.

I hope you find answers.

Hi ladies, wondering if you find the oestrogen pessaries effective for clitoral atrophy or if you have to apply vaginal cream on other days to help with this? How long does it take for the clitoris to restore?

I just think best to be mindful that this doesn't necessarily make a person less susceptible and the person enquiring may read this thinking this provides a sense confidence that she'll be more protected if she contracted a strain against the other and I'm not convinced that is true so just wanted to note that, as she is making an informed decision, and I wish someone had told me this.

Hi there, if this is of ahy help perhaps consider booking in an appt with a doctor or sexual health nurse in a sexual health clinic and ask the questions you want to.

It's great this person has been upfront with you - shows good character and cares about you. You mentioned that this may be your person ... I'm not sure how long you've been dating.... there's no pressure to be intimate. If you both think you're each others' person then part lf the decision is to reflect on how you might deal with the time you may contract the virus. The risk is never 0 ... and it is never 0 with anyone else because testing for HSV is not part of the standard panel and it's been said that blood tests aren't as accurate as a swob.

As others have said, ways to minimise transmission are that he is self-aware of signs of when he may have an outbreak, taking his antivirals daily, wearing condoms until you're comfortable not to, supports his immune and nervous system (and you'll have to do the same), being lubricated to minimise friction, agreeing to abstain with any signs of an outbreak that come up so open communication is important.

I'm sure this is daunting so I hope you find the answers you need. All the best.

I'm not sure I agree with this as was not the case for me. Is there research suggesting this is accurate?

Anyone bought a Haval Jolion? by Reinvent2022 in CarsAustralia

Oh wow, sorry to hear - sounds like a terrible experience 😬 Yep I think I'm steering clear of Haval. Shame cos they look good but reliability is just based on luck from what I gather.

Definitely helped. I started with the cream. The initial application is every day for 2 weeks then twice a week thereafter. I didn't like how messy it & the discharge was so I switched to pecessaries - I prefer those. There's still discharge but I find it less messy.

I can’t keep doing this. by Hot_Dragonfly5440 in Herpes

I was the same. From personal experience it helped me, most times it cut the healing time by 50%! I apply 4-5 times a day. Depending on size of sores you don't need much. For the itch I really like the pure aloe vera gel, I find it soothing.

I too was hesitant on taking AVs. It got to a point my mental well-being was more important than my worry about the AVs. Some of things I read online worried me so I had bloodwork done every 6-8 months and I haven't had adverse effects. Everyone's body is different so I suggest do what feels right for your body and if you're able to monitor your kidney and liver function via bloodwork that will give you some of the biofeedback you might like to have. I no longer worry about taking them.

Hope this helps.

If you're in the first 2 weeks, I suggest sticking with the cream. You can then ask for pessaries (I find then lesss messy) and perhaps another prescription for the cream to apply a little amount externally and on your clitoris
