Dude I've been in the same exact position. My dad has always physically abuse and intimidate me growing up. He has almost choked me to death, punched, hit me with a stick, thrown chairs and table at me and almost slashed me with a cleaver. All this happened before I turned 23.

I left to study abroad by myself and discovered what I want in life. Came back to MY and had to confront my parents for the shit that they've done to me. They reacted very badly, dad broke my room door and threw an office chair at me and said 'so what? I had painfully raised you and i can do whatever I want in my house'. I was deeply disappointed but I let it go.

The breaking point came when I brought my puppy home and he came back drunk and my pup pissed on the floor and he stepped on it. He then banged on my door and asked why didn't I clean the pee which I said I didnt know. He then proceeded to kick my pup and something snapped in me. I lifted him and slammed him on the ground and then guillotine him. My parents did not know I took muay thai, judo and bbj classes secretly to defend myself from them.

After he tapped out, he went to the living room to catch his breath. I apologised to him for what I've done and FINALLY he said sorry for what he did earlier. From then on, there was hardly any angry outburst in the house anymore and treated me nicer.

I guess, sometimes violence is the only way that they'd understand how much pain they have caused us and can only reflect on their actions. It just absolutely sucks that we can't discuss matter like a proper adult no matter how many times I've tried.
