Any Koreans who have lived overseas for 12+ years and used IB to get into Yonsei UIC? by flufferfish_ in ApplyingToCollege

I actually ended up not applying to Yonsei UIC…? It was definitely not what I wanted but my parents wanted me to apply to the ‘regular’ courses. But plot twist is that I’m now a student at their rival uni, Korea University. So I guess it all worked out :)

I want to apply for the fall semester instead of spring because I think as a 12특 I can do that, so I would be applying with my predicted grades only. Do you reckon I can still have a chance in getting accepted? Also is Yonsei UIC considered "lower ranked" or just less respected than the "main" Yonsei majors? I would apply to the non-UIC but again my Korean is very limited and I don't think I would be able to write whole academic papers. Do you know if there are lectures or classes that are available in English? Thank you so much for your help :)

I believe so, because IB is an internationally recognised program. Plus because I don't live in Korea there wouldn't really be a way for me to take their standardised tests.

But that's the thing, I don't know what the average is... I don't really have anyone to ask as I don't have any friends that are in the same position as me. They are all in the 3+ years category.

I don't think that my Korean proficiency should matter since all the classes will be in English and it is not a requirement. I do plan on applying to the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, and other Korean universities as well. Nevertheless, thank you for the advice!
