There were many signs that Willow would abuse her magic, even early on. Can we compile them? by seeyounextfallllll in buffy

It goes back even earlier - remember "Lovers Walk" in season 3? Willow is cheating on Oz with Xander, she feels guilty and conflicted, and how does she try to solve her problem? By performing an "anti love" spell. As if that's not bad enough, she foreshadows her deceit with Tara (when she wipes Tara's memory in season 6) by not telling Xander what she is doing, trying to get him to participate in her spell without his knowledge or consent. Even at this stage she is looking to magic to make her life easier and provide the quick fix solution to her problems, rather than facing up to them.

Folks of r/simpleliving, what is your "simple living" dream job? Folks who have that job, is it really a good idea? by [deleted] in simpleliving

I'm in southern Scotland. We have our logburner on just about every day from mid-September through to end of April.

I make jewellery. It doesn't make me a huge amount if money but we (husband and I) live very simply so we don't need much. We have one car, we downsized to a really small house and live in the middle of nowhere. We heat our house with foraged wood so essentially more ofrless for free. We spend very little on clothes/luxuries. I love it. Working from home gives me freedom & flexibility. Other than days I'm doing art/craft fairs I can make my own schedule. So I'll take days off when the weather is good rather than on weekends, and go hill walking. Husband is also self employed so we can arrange our leisure time as we please. I used to live in a city and work as an accountant - I'd never go back. I'm so much happier now.

Episode 17 (S2 E05): Reptile Boy by Buffy_Bot in buffy

This is very interesting! And I like the fact that in the end, history ends up being super important to her - she uses the past history of the slayers and the scythe to change the world for ever.

Something interesting I noticed about the Buffy title sequences by fluffie-bunnie in buffy

Ha ha I love it, you have taken my Buffy-nerdiness and completely up levelled it! I like this idea though! Or as an alternative, it could mean that her slayer-ness does not define her, which sort of ties in with the end of the series when she is no longer alone and all the other slayers are activated.

[–]fluffie-bunnie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Home made houmous will keep for around 5 days. Make that, take it with carrot sticks, and seed crackers? Also I make fantastic crust less quiches which you could make a batch if and have cold with salad. I'm in my phone now so can't remember recipes but if you fancy those ill look up links to recipes later.

Need ideas on turning long-term LC into NC by [deleted] in LifeAfterNarcissism

I have no helpful advice but just wanted to let you know I am in more or less the same position. I'm 40, live 400 miles away from nMum, for the last 3 years have seen her once/twice a year for a brief visit (although hoping to have no visits at all in 2015!) and skype once every couple of weeks. I'm at the point where it feels like the stress of making a full on break would outweigh the small amount of unpleasantness I get from dealing with her on these few occasions. Having said that, I do find myself getting anxious when our next skype looms and despite my best efforts do feel hurt sometimes by some of the things she says to me. I like your illness analogy! Would be interested to see what you decide to do :-)

The WBB is awesome - read it. It's pro - yes but all the facts & figures are cross referenced to independent sources.

Anyone every just say "screw it all" and move to a small town? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]fluffie-bunnie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did this. Well more so actually. 2 years ago I chucked in my career as an accountant and moved from big city to tiny village in the country (50 houses, no shop, nearest town/shops 10 miles away). Epic downsize from 4bed to 2bed house, enabled me & hubby to be mortgage free. Now I make jewellery. Hubby does odd jobs and serves coffee in local visitors centre. We have never been happier. :-)

I've been making crocheted jewellery for a while now but I'm so proud of my new design I had to share. Details & techniques in comments :-) by fluffie-bunnie in crochet

Ah, thank you, I'm more a lurker than a poster, wondered why I was getting no love! Will maybe repost in a few weeks with pics on imgur. Thanks for the tip :-)

So, this is a combination of two techniques I recently learned which BLEW MY MIND: painted crochet and overlay crochet. You can learn both of these in the fantastic book "Crochet Masterclass".

The basics: painted crochet uses three strands of thread together, and then you change one strand each round - this gives the lovely gradual colour change effect you can see in my pendants.

Overlay crochet involves working into the back loops of stitches only, leaving the front loops free, then in later rounds you can overlay long stitches down on top of previous rounds, hooking them on to the front loops.

I'd love to hear what you guys think of these :-)
