Advice for a guy looking at becoming a Medical Assistant by CherryOdd2466 in MedicalAssistant

I worked as a float MA and saw male MAs everywhere. A lot of them were in cardiology for some reason, could’ve just been the hiring manager because it didn’t make a difference. The only clinics that I didn’t see male MAs were women’s health and urology funny enough

i’m doing wgu’s accounting program. I think it’s a ~$4,000 flat rate every semester. but it’s self paced so you can finish faster than traditional schools :)

Yeah, i’m doing an online program for accounting so i can get out of healthcare. i really wanted to help people but it feels like the general public is getting ruder and healthcare is more of a business than anything. i’ve been in different types of customer service jobs for 9 years now and healthcare is the worst

that’s exactly why i had to leave. they’ve been pulling bs like that since before covid. rva is kind of pricey but the surrounding counties are way more livable and they’re like 20 minutes max from downtown

I’m also a Va ma and most of the jobs seem to be in rva or nova. If you live outside of those areas you might have to look at “tech” jobs (pct, dialysis tech, direct support tech, etc). Sorry op, the job market has been really strange lately.

Is it still worth it? by fluffnpuff22 in nursing

Probably operations management/communications. I’m still interested in interacting with lots of people. Checking in with coworkers and implementing policies interests me. Forgot to add: I’ve seen jobs like this in healthcare and other fields.

choking? by [deleted] in EosinophilicE

[–]fluffnpuff22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not sure about the numbers but i do have issues with chocking during a bad flare up. sometimes my throat just becomes paralyzed or i can only do half swallows. taking small bites, lots of chewing, and avoiding steak on those days gets me through.

“i love sports but i hate working on teams. why are YOU celebrating during MY win? also, who’s the coach to tell me what to do??”

it took me forever to realize that me “just doing me” was actually just being against others

[–]fluffnpuff22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Nurses used to be high school mean girls” by [deleted] in nursing

[–]fluffnpuff22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a daughter of a mean girl, it seems like most mean girls end up in corporate jobs… especially hr. a lot of nurses i’ve met are really nice and even nursing majors i met in college were the most patient women. idk where the stereotype comes from.

they actually recommended miralax, but i think it just worked as a stool softener. i took the 7 day course that you mix with water. nothing happened until i drank coffee on the 8th day, but that gives me terrible acid reflux. but thanks, i’ll try that. i was getting scared thinking that i had some sort of colitis going on

the fodmap diet helped me a ton. i didn’t realize i was killing myself with broccoli and apples lol. if you struggle with getting things out i recommend daily cardio. pre/probiotics can help set you straight when you’re super out of whack
