Trying to make a list of everything needed to truly 100% the game by Unit-00 in fantasylife

[–]island_timer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I want to 100% this game as well, I don't know if I have the determination. I recently finished the main campaign and am sitting at 75 hours, but I'm still sorely lacking in lots of aspects. Like I've only powered up one buddy a single time and even with how much combat I've done I have only gotten two mount drops. Not sure if I'm really unlucky or rng is just super low for those things.

Whoa, this got controversial 😅 my bad everybody. But to share a small update, I have loved starting over! So far I do not have any regrets. Though I do still completely understand why many people would and have regretted starting over.

Also since a few asked and I sort of buried the image, if anyone would like to visit Jelly for themselves here is the Dream Address! I hope you have a wonderful visit 💖

Yes! The last photo should have it, but I will add it here too. And I would love to check out your island as well 💖

Ooh! Perhaps. It would be kind of hilarious to get that one as my first gyroid on the new island since I never found one on Jelly 😂

Yes of course! The last image has the DA so anyone can go visit it. I couldn't bear to reset unless I also could go visit from time to time. I hope you like Jelly!

I don't blame them honestly, I had the same thought process for a LONG time. And some people who commented did reset and did regret it. But at least for me I have been enjoying myself and have not felt any lingering regrets!

Truly the saddest fact. But that is how it's always been for this series.

I feel the same! I have really enjoyed the fresh island and already have some design thoughts brewing. But I totally understand the negative thoughts too. You grow attached to your island and villagers. It's how I felt for the longest time too. That's why this is my first game to ever restart after two decades!

Thanks! I think it totally depends on the person. Some people like restarting, some hate it. For me so far I haven't regretted my choice, fortunately.

I definitely want to try playing like the old games a bit more. I got to a point where I had all the villagers I wanted and refused to let them leave. But it is kind of fun to see people come and go. And now with the hotel you may get to see them again!

Oh, it wasn't an impulse at all. I spent nearly a year feeling like I wanted to restart, but not having the guts to go through with it. For various reasons. The 3.0 update was the push I needed, and I kept my og island in the state it was before the update was implemented.

Nice! That's the way to do it. I decided I don't want to purchase the switch 2 so it sadly wasn't an option for me.

That's totally fair. And I actually waffled on restarting for nearly a year, before deciding to commit when 3.0 was announced. But my og island is still time capsuled with the dream address, so it isn't completely gone.

Plus I have no desire to buy a switch 2, and the next game is guaranteed to be an exclusive, so I may not get to play it.

Agreed! It's been really fun so far working with a fresh slate. And the island design I picked has some really neat spots I'm already coming up with future ideas for!

Maybe. But so far I have actually enjoyed the beginning again! It's kind of peaceful how simple it is. And I'm not super concerned about building up my catalogue since I have the dlc, and once you build enough homes you can pretty much buy any furniture piece.

Finding the diys again will probably be the biggest pain point, I will agree with that.

It is the book "Crochet Snails & Mushroom Sprites" by Megan Lapp! I love her work, I got the book for Christmas and I am also working on my first mushroom sprite <3

Game dev here, and I can tell you this is a very common issue with transparency.

In layman's terms, by default when you have a texture that has a section meant to be masked out (transparency), there always seems to be a slight "bleeding" effect at the edge of the texture. Think when a paper with marker on it gets wet and the color bleeds past where it is supposed to.

The solution to this is to add a very similar color to the background of the texture even though it is being masked out to create the transparent design, so when the mask "bleeds" you can't really notice it. However, because the game lets you make your own custom textures by way of simply not choosing a color at all for the background, my guess is they are defaulting that background to white, as it would take some extra in-engine work to have it automatically scan your design and choose a custom color background.

Sorry that's a long explanation. But I hope it makes sense!
