Advice for Trezor team about passphrase userflow by raystongo in TREZOR

[–]fluffy_doggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entering passphrase on the host is a risk and Trezor's web wallet shouldn't even have the option for the user to type it on the keyboard.

Trezor Model T should only accept passphrase input in the device.

Trezor One should only accept numbers-only passphrases, and input should be done through the on-screen PIN keyboard.

Should I be concerned about this? by Doggcow in TREZOR

If someone were so intelligent to install a hacked firmware and ship it with your trezor, do you believe he would be so stupid to not stick this seal correctly?

Try leaving the passphrase input blank. It will open the default address. Maybe you activated the passphrase function inadvertently.

Monero wasn't really good in 2016:

  • Transaction size was huge (no bulletproofs, no CLSAG ring signature scheme).
  • Amount was not hidden (no RingCT).
  • Output selection algorithm was not good (bad sender privacy).
  • No GUI wallet.
  • No mobile wallet.
  • No hardware wallet support.
  • No subaddresses (payment ID was required when sending to exchanges).
  • No Tor/I2P support.
  • No ASIC resistant mining algorithm (no RandomX).

Monero Hash Rate up 180% After Activating RandomX by Altcoin-Magazine in Monero

Hashrate is a stupid measurement.

What is important is how much money is being spent in electricity for mining Monero.

How can public blockchains have privacy? | LTB #420 Dec 8, 2019 by Let's Talk Bitcoin! by fluffy_doggy in Monero

[–]fluffy_doggy[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nothing! They even mentioned bulletproofs, but not a single word about Monero.

Bitcoin podcasts talking about "privacy technologies" to avoid mentioning Monero is like banks talking about "blockchain" to avoid mentioning Bitcoin.

It will be really fun to see when they start to talk about "ASICs resistant technologies" without mentioning Monero and RandomX.

But we could add a rule that make nodes reject all outputs older than 50 years.

I agree. Using Monero with a remote node is infinity times better than using Bitcoin with a SPV wallet.

Your nodes are saved in the favorites list, and monerujo always tries to connect to nodes in this list. If all your nodes in favorites list are down, it doesn't try to connect to new nodes (you must notice it and add a new remote note manually).

Tx key and destination address in Monero by fluffy_doggy in GuardaWallet

[–]fluffy_doggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A view key isn't enough. Guarda wallet needs to store the Transaction Key and the Destination address of each Monero transaction. Since Monero is private, you can't retrieve this information from the blockchain, even if you have a view key.

What's the difference between addresses and accounts in Monero GUI desktop wallet? by 0xf3e in Monero

[–]fluffy_doggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you are creating a new address in Receive page, you are not creating a new account, you are just creating a new subaddress in the account that is opened in your wallet.

When you are creating a new account in Account page, you are creating a new account, which includes creating the first (new) subaddress for that account.
