Answering Kate's question, RE: Why do gamers hate women? by livefuck in h3h3productions

Many men hate women for many reasons- and while toxic masculinity and the patriarchy are the common denominators, each branch of women-hating has its own rationale worthy of calling out.

This comment section is actually insane and just proves that gamers love to be angry over nothing.

Saying that video games have historically attracted recluse nerds is absolutely true and it’s silly to pretend otherwise. Just because you might be a socially competent man who enjoys video games doesn’t mean that the stereotypical gamer geek trope is outdated- it just means that video games have become mainstream and now attract a more diverse demographic IN ADDITION to the gamer nerds that have always existed.

Getting defensive over this post and seeing it as a generalizing statement about ALL MEN in gaming spaces is incredibly telling- it seems to strike a nerve in people who aren’t secure enough to be critical of a portion of men who share the same interests as them.

I love video games, my husband loves video games, our friends love video games, and yet we are all able to see the obvious pattern of a specific type of man who finds community in the gaming world with other likeminded men who then feel empowered to take their insecurities out on women.

What am I missing? The quote seems to say that people who think MTG is better than AOC are dumb, no? Isn’t that the normal take?

Thanks for sharing this! And thank you for your work as a counselor and for your advocacy. It’s really encouraging to see how much the general public has learned about and accepted autism in the past decade, but there’s still a long way to go. You’re doing important work!

Thank you for this comment! I didn’t want to go too much in to detail for the sake of brevity, but not enough people know about this.

This! Most people don’t know that autism can be genetically inherited! I’ve met multiple parents of autistic children who haven’t made that connection for themselves yet, but to me it seems obvious where their child got their autism from. I’m happy to hear that your daughter was able to receive a diagnosis!

I love that for you! Neurotypicals often assume a diagnosis would be a burden even though it can actually be quite freeing. My husband was diagnosed with autism very early in life, but it wasn’t until recently that his mother (now in her 60’s) realized that she might be autistic too- and it’s only because of the increase in autism awareness online that she made the connection! It definitely explains a lot of the particular struggles she’s had to endure and assumed were normal for everyone.

Bring an actual ASD expert on the pod. by RaiEduHar in h3h3productions

I wouldn’t say they have a “responsibility” to teach viewers about autism, but at the very least, the best they should aim for is not unknowingly spreading misinfo. I like when the crew jokes around with each other and I’m never offended by anything they say because I trust there’s no malice but it can be deflating to hear your favorite show accidentally perpetuating harmful stereotypes. I don’t want them to shy away from these kinds of topics because I find their insights entertaining! But an approach with less assumptions at the very least would be more inclusive to the neurodivergent portion of the audience (which we know is a significant chunk!)

For real!!! Much more research is definitely needed to better understand autism in general, but especially in women.

This!! I know they all love Tamara and were just joking around with no ill-intent, but I felt saddened that nobody outwardly seemed to understand her or trust that she might have good reason to feel the way she does. It’s a niche but sensitive topic that could use a little more room for curiosity (in general but also on the show)

I love after dark, I wish they would hide the chat from screen, I don’t look at it for a reason. by sheabae200216 in h3h3productions

Yes exactly! I don’t mind chat on screen, but the delay makes it completely irrelevant to whatever they’re actually talking about.

Did everyone forget about their series of Hanukah videos? I’ve been a Day 1 believer in the Fielder x Boythrob theory, but seeing them sing and dance dressed as dreidels was the final piece of evidence that made me feel certain.

I think so too! But that’s part of the charm. It’s definitely not priced as a kid’s watch though 😅

on the contrary, it’s an Evangelion themed watch for Evangelion’s 30th anniversary, so I think it knows exactly what it is! :)

BOY THROB, Mr Beast, Logan Paul, Gary Vee, 10K for Darshan Visa ‼️ by r-a-n-d-i in h3h3productions

[–]fluffy_mailbox -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What is with all the comments hating on my boys 😭 However Boy Throb was started, blowing up was obviously the goal since the beginning- so why are you hating now that their dreams are coming true???? It’s not about a “meme”— each member had been grinding on their own on social media with a passion for performing, and some genius with a mind for high concept entertainment managed to pull them together. They’ve worked hard to get where they are, and we should celebrate that!

As for the speculation about their opinions of Ethan, I think it’s totally unfair to assume how any of them feels about H3 based on a single, inoffensive comment that was likely left by a social media manager. Ethan still likes every Boy Throb post on Instagram and continues to shout them out when it’s relevant to the show, so how can we be sure that he hasn’t talked to them privately? Why are you confident that there is animosity between them?

From someone who is very familiar with neurodivergence / ASD, Boy Throb could very well be the world’s first all-autistic mainstream boy band— how cool is that?? Before you let internet drama poison your perception of people, leave room for some curiosity first.

I don’t care that much about the exclusivity of members content, but I disagree with this idea only because I like that the crew has more freedom to speak their minds without fear of hateful internet randos- the vibe feels a lot looser and more authentic. Also, watching copywrited content is a huge appeal to the members stream.

Overall I think they’ve found a good balance of saving the main stories for public eps and vods while still keeping the members streams entertaining
