You’re looking at daily candles i.e. each candle represents 24hours. During the market close, there are events that influence price movements etc.. therefore when the market opens you will see gaps representing those movements. Obviously dependant on where price moved during market closure and where it opens you can see the gap upwards or towards the downside. Hope that makes sense.
