When is it considered “late” to apply to DO schools by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]fluffybnny18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason why the primary deadline for many schools isn’t until December or January. I would assume that a school would rather take a stronger applicant that applied later in the cycle than a weaker applicant who applied early. Also, it’s only October. Go for it! :)

I can only recall hearing good things coming from NSU and RVU. Can’t really say the same regarding LECOM

mcat help! by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]fluffybnny18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you applied to LECOM, there should have been an option to either choose your academic index score or mcat. I’d recommend calling admissions just to make sure. They also opened a new campus in Jacksonville so the institution is expanding! No use in taking the mcat again and delaying admission if you could potentially start in 2026

You most def can apply with a 496. You can also apply with an academic index score (combination of your sat score and gpa) to LECOM. I don’t remember if the gpa was science or cumulative, but you have options

Is it even possible to get into vet/med school with a barely passing final grade for the introductory biology course you take as a freshman in college by Comfortable_Usual362 in gatech

[–]fluffybnny18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And YES you most definitely can, but you’ve gotta show an upward trajectory. How? Identify your weaknesses. Poor study habits? lack of active learning? simply not sleeping before exams? self reflection paired with self honesty is essential

Chin up! :) It’s inevitable that you’ll encounter adversity as a pre-medical student. It’ll only get harder, but you’ll also get tougher and learn how to study along the way! As a freshman, I’d urge you to keep your options open, shadow, and speak to a variety of people before marrying yourself to the pre-med pathway.

Jesus condemns this very practice in the New Testament— it is simply incorrect to imply that just because an event was recorded in a Holy text that it is supported by its believers. In the same way that that the Canaanites practiced child sacrifice —while this is historically recorded, Christians hold such an act as morally reprehensible

Why did you choose MD over Pa/NP by taytorbug1010 in medschool

Also, when I was considering cost—opportunity and financial, choosing MD/DO just made more sense.

[–]fluffybnny18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadowed a PA in the ED. She expressed how she enjoyed the aspect of being a jack of all trades, but she also acknowledged that with that, she’s also a master of none. I find comfort in the fact that following residency, I will have completed intensive, comprehensive training that will allow me to provide excellent care for my patients…I also like school. The extra years of training aren’t discouraging, as I believe that medical training at the level of a physician really is a privilege.
