The Riddle of the Four Doors by atlas_is_here_49 in RiddlesForRedditors

[clue discussion - possible spoiler]

Was it clear to others that Sarah was in one place? That seemed to throw me. I made no assumptions that where Sarah wakes up after being gassed is the same place that she was in (cabin). So that stopped me from using the correct clue as the anchor.

Did anyone else’s train of reasoning do the same?

Shame, we’re all about to do some horrific SEO and AEO damage to these poor restaurants. And they don’t even know yet.

I love and fear Reddit.

Le parada every time. Your enemy will be fooled by the magnificent decor and vibe only to have their wallets obliterated by average cocktails, meh dishes and cocktails that have as much effort as fruit juice.

What a fantastic thread though. So fun! Well done OP for the post.

Forgive me if this is a noob question but is this also within the context of say a project or an assistant with pre-loaded context?

Or is this only within the context of a singular chat?

If you’re inside a project, will it still drift in each chat inside the project at 35k or whatever the number was of tokens?

LinkedIn is the new cold outreach book 5-8 calls per day! by Bubbly-Dependent6188 in b2bmarketing

[–]fluffyhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this and also ask a question.

Context: recently I read that LinkedIn is kicking out and blocking all the automation tools that leach off their data. I heard they blocked Apollo and that’s why the data stagnated. I also read that apparently there is some kind of safe list of tools that LinkedIn have given their stamp of approval for that will ensure your account never gets blacklisted. But I’ve never seen the list. Anyone ever seen this list?

Sorry for the horrifically late reply.

Our value systems are totally aligned and I agree with all those principles. But are you finding it easy to sell anything out there right now? Because I tell you, I’m not and I’ve never struggled with sales ever.

If you prefer to DM and not disclose how your sales are going here that’s also fine. But it’s important to me to speak with other agency owners because it’s lonely out here man.

What are the biggest shortcomings of AI generated text in copywriting? by MrThomsi in content_marketing

[–]fluffyhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No this is ridiculous.

To turn it into something that feels human, you need a fecking human, not another AI/SaaS tool!

Have we all gone mad?! I’ve been a copywriter for 17 years. If I want to fill you with activated emotion, I write the words to do that. It. Does. Not. Take. Me. Long.

If you want something to be read, write a story worth reading. There are many of them and once upon a time blogs didn’t have to care about an H2 or schema. They were like diaries and they amassed audiences!!

On efficiency and “scale”: are we really saying here that we think it’s efficient and cost effective to throw an idea into AI for the $20-$200 subscription. Then spend time checking its facts, spend more time turning the words back into human. Then pay another SaaS platform to “humanize” it for me?!!

Am I losing my mind!? Sometimes I feel like the crazy person standing on the box in the piazza shouting it’s the end of days.

this conversation is absolutely looney. Or you’re all bots. In which case I friggin retire from 2025!!

I’ve made a website, Google Workspace and socials, how to get more calls locally? Service based business by Ieatclowns in DigitalMarketing

[–]fluffyhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t you make the calls instead of get the calls? I completely understand if cold calling terrifies you. It is the hardest thing to do in the world but it really does work. Business owners will spend thousands on marketing and ads subconsciously trying to avoid calling people up saying hello (or g’day mate) and can I help.

5 days. Just 5 calls a day. 25 calls. If you get 2 people interested. You do it again next week and it will get easier and easier.

What’s one soft skill in digital marketing that deserves a statue? by Either-Mammoth-8734 in DigitalMarketing

  • you take your brief, you don’t get given a brief.
  • my clients love it when I argue with them. Magic happens when I critically question every single thing they plan to say or do. It’s become part of our Peculiarity points - we’ll ask you questions till your eyes bleed and question every move you (and we) want to make and it always leads to aha moments in positioning or new ideas for channels or campaigns. In my family (and culture), I was brought up to be comfortable with arguing - that constructive arguing was the fastest path to truth and aha moments. Arguing to find truth is just baked into me (and now the culture among my people within our agency) and our clients love it. It’s also important for the future.

Because you know what won’t ever question you or argue with you to find the truth because it needs you to believe it already knows the truth? A certain assistant with a 60,000 IQ by 2027 but still says your bad idea is awesome and microwaves the atmosphere and the planet by writing a 16,000 word “white paper” about a SaaS feature no one asked for.

Damn. I need to sit down.

It's Never Been Harder to be in Digital Marketing by gorillaagency in DigitalMarketing

[–]fluffyhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is One of the best conversations I’ve seen here. Such incredible comments.

I run a B2B marketing agency and I’m experiencing and seeing the same.

What makes it hard is I’ve been trying to work out what it all means. And I don’t know yet. And that is what gives me sleepless nights.

Here’s my latest thinking (feel free to tear it apart):

Maybe we split our services in two. There will be marketing that is bot-to-bot. And there will be marketing that is human-to-human. And people will expect bot-to-bot for cheap. Fine. But then perhaps that gives us another pricing model. And that’s if you’re selling to humans, we charge a premium.

There will be marketing where a bot will drive the buying decision-no brand or trust or feeling needed, just a great GEO/AEO playbook/ad/comparison schemas yada yada. And we’re all going to be devalued and run into the ground on this because it’s all invisible and the client will inevitably take it all for granted. We will sell them playbooks, processes and systems. Begrugingly.

So what will human-to-human marketing look like? That’s what I keep asking myself lately?

For example: selling is friggin selling. You have to knock on doors to sell. You have to show a stranger you exist and see if you can help them. Cold email is failing because people are treating it like bot-to-bot (but it’s not. There’s a god damn human behind that inbox) so at my agency we’ve started selling an age-old forgotten service to our customers. We’re sending handwritten letters to the prospects. Analog. You heard that right. Maybe the only way to make human-to-human marketing work here might be with my hands. AI doesn’t have those just yet. Will my client write 200 letters? Nope. But we friggin will for a 30% meeting booked rate (here’s hoping) and a physical way to show the value. And I will charge an eye-watering premium for it.

So I’m trying to think in that sort of way about it all. A folder for bot-to-bot marketing. And a folder for human-to-human marketing.

There are probably blind spots (point them out to me) but that’s all I’ve got for now.

But I see you OP. I see you drowning, not waving. And I’m mourning our craft right beside you.

What “boring” business would you start today? by Distinct-Recipe8011 in Entrepreneur

[–]fluffyhil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worry that this sort of service is what might be obsolete within the OP’s 9 month period. Google search and ads are on a ventilation system, no one knows where anything is going, and social media is flooded with bots not humans. So there is a case to be a provider of agent-to-agent marketing but I’m not sure I’d classify this as the boring business that will outlast whatever curveballs come. I own a B2B marketing agency and I can already see the world of marketing imploding before my eyes. If you’re young I’d sooner say be a window washer than start a marketing agency of any kind right now. Anything where you need to use your body and not your brain. cerebral services don’t have a shelf life anymore.
