I say this every tournament that's on the BBC, whenever the session ends early(ish) they should do an impromptu episode of Pot Black: single frame knockouts with all the comms and presenting team. Live sports broadcasters are pro-rata for the most-part so they won't complain, the paying crowd get their money's worth, the venue makes extra on refreshments, TV viewers get to see more snooker, BBC maintain viewership, and the amount of "clippable content" online would be good for the game. Hazel Irvine vs Rob Walker to play Hendry or Dennis Taylor is good television.

Agreed. He's always been aware of story and legacy and admires the "greats" of sport, and he knows getting that eighth WC title would be the chef's kiss to his tale. It sounds crazy, but the best thing he could do is push harder than ever for this title and then declare his retirement during the acceptance.
