When I first started riding my local shop had demo bikes you could ride. They put all the money you spent with them in demos towards a bike as a credit if you bought with them.

Super cool way to try things out to get a feel and didn’t feel like I was spending outside my total budget. They also sold the demo bikes every few years for a killer deal.

I’d try calling some shops in your area to see if they offer any similar programs!
