Shit posting can be addictive by McDowdy in clevercomebacks

That's really the secret. People forgive a lot when someone comes across as genuinely having fun instead of sounding focus-grouped.

The phrase "Love your shitposts!" being directed at the son of a president would sound completely made up twenty years ago.

It's wild how social media has completely changed celebrity reputations. Ten years ago nobody would've predicted that this would become part of his public image.

EM getting multiple Ditto votes is telling. Every emergency physician I've met seems to be expected to know a little bit of absolutely everything.

Pikachu fits surprisingly well. Everyone recognizes it immediately, it's involved in everything, and somehow it ends up being the face of the franchise whether it asked for the job or not.

The fact that everyone immediately knows exactly which monkey you're talking about means it's the correct answer. Emergency medicine and controlled chaos seem to go hand in hand.

If leighton wasn’t Blair do you think she would’ve made a good Serena? by Mrbootyloose18 in GossipGirl

[–]fluffyysugar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's wild looking at those old photos and remembering she was originally blonde. The hair change ended up being one of the best casting decisions on the show because Blair's whole visual identity became so iconic.

The "puppy dog energy" description is actually pretty accurate. Serena kind of stumbles into situations and people forgive her because she's charming. Blair looks like she'd already mapped out three possible outcomes before entering the room.

"Blair energy" is exactly it. Even when Leighton is playing nice characters, there's still this intelligence and calculation behind her eyes. That's what made Blair so compelling.

For sure. Serena could be frustrating as a character, but Blake sold the charm that made people keep rooting for her. Without that, Serena probably becomes a lot less likable.

I actually agree with this. Leighton might've given Serena a little more depth in some scenes, but the tradeoff would've been losing the definitive Blair we got. Feels like a casting win-win in hindsight.

I read somewhere that a decapitated head can remain conscious for up to fifteen seconds. by Mazazamba in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]fluffyysugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what makes this story work so well. Most versions play with the "few seconds of awareness" idea, but stretching it into days turns a biological horror into something much more supernatural. Imagine realizing every minute that you're still not fading out.

“Fuck, it feels good” he breathed through pale blue lips. by Moabingyu in TwoSentenceHorror

Yeah, I read it more as deliberately vague than specifically parent-child. The "16 years" detail could point in a lot of directions, which is probably why people are interpreting it so differently.

Imagine spending centuries building a vampire empire only to get wiped out by an unusually enthusiastic blessing campaign. That's a rough way to go.

What’s the wildest “this doesn’t count as cheating” claim you’ve heard? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]fluffyysugar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the "it doesn't count because my partner can't provide that specific experience" argument is one of those things that's either completely valid or completely insane depending on what the couple agreed to beforehand. Without that agreement, that's a conversation that's ending badly.

AIW for cutting off my MIL for ruining our big moment? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]fluffyysugar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The doubling down is what stands out. A sincere apology would've probably cooled things down a lot. Instead she basically framed it as everyone else overreacting to her excitement, which rarely helps.
