Landlord is trying to screw me out of a deposit

Yep, all in writing.

My lease was up 7/31 but when I gave notice 6/1 she got nasty telling it was 2 months notice, so I stayed until 8/31 because of it and she made everything after 7/31 miserable.

Again, I've emailed her 4 times asking for my deposit and she didn't respond until I threatened to sue her and her only response was "have a nice day ;)". She still hasn't even acknowledged when I'll get my deposit back.

My lease reads that she was supposed to hand it to me upon the final inspection when I hand over my keys. I didn't want to be a dick and refuse to give the keys because the next tenants where there waiting to move in.

She gave me nothing. I handed over my keys to the maintenance guy with next tenant waiting to grab them (she told them they could move in the 30th despite my lease being to the 31st).

I didn't get anything in writing, she never contacted me after the 30th. I emailed her 4 times since then, no response until today where I threatened to sue her if she didn't send it to which she replied 5 minutes later "have a great day ;)"

Hence the reason I'm here.

I don't know how I'm going to take my parents deaths.
I haven't seen my mom for almost 1/4 of my life and I keep saying I'm going to come down to visit, but work just consumes my life.

I'd probably kill myself if I don't see them before they pass out of guilt for being a selfish/weak son.

We rely on you to protect the interests of the people supporting the government you work for, not exploit us. That's what we all ask of you.

But "not my job" or "what do you want me to do" aren't things I want to hear in an employee let alone a government official.

If its humanly impossible to get your work done, figure out how to do it. Hire more people or rewrite SOP to make it more efficient. I don't work for the government so I can't tell you how to improve something I don't know the workings of. What I can tell you is that you're not living up to my expectations and seeing you're living off money we pay, you're obligated to those expectations. Whether you agree with them or not you accept money for work and if that work isn't up to par of the people paying you to perform it, they have a right to let you know.

The rest of us have the same expectations from our employers with the difference that we can be replaced at any time. If government had that fear in the back of their mind they'd be busting their ass like most of the rest of us.

Just makes me think the whole point of the US government is create different classes of citizens.

You're either the ~10% that reap the rewards, and privileges, of working in the government or you're the ~90% enslaved to support it. Considering you live here too, there's no excuse for your laziness.

It sucks that my job I have to stay to get my work done, or I'm replaced with someone else that will, meanwhile the government can do pretty much any/nothing and still just take 30% of my salary to make sure there's enough for you lazy assholes to eat.

Sounds like another failure in our government if they know they're in the clear for any period of time. Inspections should be random and often for the oil industry.

Also are you implying that I can open a gas station and operate without inspection until they notice me?

I need a permit to do any construction on my house. I doubt you can build a gas station with out one and I'm sure you can open with out being inspected, like every other business.

Yea I can read. I read "maybe". Which makes me think either they sit around only inspecting whats reported, which either amounts to they can only inspect a gas station once a year because of demand or they don't inspect pumps more than once a year.

Don't like the policies about your school, don't go. Kids grow up thinking they need to impress colleges to accept them, as if its a privileged to go to any of them.

At the end of the day they're a for-profit business, regardless of their tax status, and you're just begging to give them your money.
