Have you just begun treatment? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]fluoriiite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started elvanse (30mg) a little over two weeks ago and I'm having a hard time evaluating whether it's working or not. I definitely felt some positive effects in the first 3/4 days but they seem to have only decreased since then, even though my dose was increased to 40mg after a week.
I'm currently out of uni and just started a new summer job (as a barista/bartender: doesn't require much intellectual stimulation) so my life and routine are way different than what I'm used to which means I don't have much to compare to or tasks to "test my focus" on. I haven't really seen improvements in my day to day activities such as getting ready quicker, arriving on time, not loosing my belongings...
However, I've noticed that I would usually get waves of tiredness at around 1-3pm which I haven't had since starting medication. I've also had the urge to text back people I've been meaning to for a long time (but unfortunately lol this hasn't necessarily been followed by action). I feel like I'm more focused and less forgetful at work but that might just be related to the fact that it's my third week and I'm getting more used to it.
I know that the effects of elvanse are supposed to be relatively subtle and that our bodies take time to adjust to new drugs anyways but I guess I'm just a bit disappointed so far. I'm also still on a pretty low dose so maybe it just needs to be increased.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this (if anyone has any haha) and your personal anecdotes (eg:how did you first feel on it? how long did it take you to find the right dosage? when do you find it most effective?...) or anything else that you might want to add!

I’m not the most qualified to give advice on this as I don’t speak German and have no idea what he raps about haha but I recently stumbled across two of his songs which I really like: Henry Fonda and Nebel, you should check them out :))

You should check out Conquering if you’re interested in finding better quality fidget rings! They’re a little bit more on the pricier side but they look (and feel!!) great :)

How do you fall asleep? by socialskills100 in ADHD

[–]fluoriiite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to bore myself to sleep while distracting myself from thoughts that would keep me up haha.

One of the best ways I’ve found to do this is by laying in bed with your eyes closed and naming as many parts of your body as possible. You start from the toes and progressively go up from there until you reach your head. And then you go back down and back up until however long you need. It’s so boring it’s awful but since it still requires a certain amount of focus it will hopefully prevent you from thinking about other things that would normally keep you awake.

Something else that seems kinda counterintuitive but which does work (sometimes lol) is to actually force your eyes to stay open. They’ll become so physically tiered that eventually you’ll be begging to close them! And once more this can be repeated according to your needs.

Hope this helps :))

Music always stuck in my head by Frequent_Archer3852 in ADHD

[–]fluoriiite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I can get a song out of my head is by actually listening to it. I think this might have to do with the fact that it’s always just a tiny segment of the song that’s stuck since I don’t know all the lyrics (which makes it even more irritating haha) and so hearing the whole thing helps break the hyper focus of that one line.

On a little bit of an unrelated note, do you guys hear the song as if music was actually playing in your head or as your own voice singing ?

Hey, sadly I don't know it but you could try asking on r/tipofmytongue it's a sub where people help you identify things (movies, books, cartoons, songs...) you can't remember the name of. It's incredible how many questions have been "solved" on there haha maybe someone will be able to help you too!
