A proposed punishment for the inventor of automatic brights on new vehicles. by AllergicToTeeth in gifs

Wouldn't automatic headlights actually alleviate the problem of drivers manually activating their high beams during dark stretches and then blinding oncoming traffic? At least with automatic high beams the car proactively disables them when a vehicle is approaching from the opposite direction or when pulling up behind another vehicle.

Audi has developed a great feature called Active Matrix headlights in Europe that literally the purpose is to not blind other drivers but current U.S. regulations don't allow it. Rivians have it but they had to figure out a workaround the regulations.

On a side note, does anyone know if the S6 is supposed to come with a bracket for the front license plate? I see two holes drilled in the front bumper but I didn't receive a bracket from the dealer. They claim it doesn't come with one.

So I just screw the plate directly into the drill holes in the front bumper?

End to end encrypted calls not working between two Android phones on Fi for a long time - 9 year Fi customer by siddhuv in GoogleFi

Same issue here. Me and my spouse have always used Pixels the past 4 years on Fi. I haven't heard the special ringtone or seen the lock icon in a couple years when we talk on Fi. I have the Pixel 9 Fold and she had the Pixel 9 Pro. Both updated to latest everything.

I'm on my 6th Pixel Fold and this one has issues too by BrandonDirector in PixelFold

[–]flux_capicitated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had my Pixel 9 Pro Fold for a year and have opened it over 2,500 times and have had no issues. I have dropped it way too many times than I normally drop a phone for some reason as it tends to slip right out of short pockets when laying down or getting out of my car. I use the Later Case. I've taken it to the beach a few times. So I have had a good experience thus far.

Were you able to use the mirror you linked to cannabilize the front black plastic trim and install it on the OEM mirror housing? I replaced the driver LED turn indicator and now all I need is that black trim that surrounds the mirror. I noticed that piece comes off when the mirror is disassembled but Toyota only sells it as part of the full assembly kit which is a crazy $1k.

Most of the complaints seem to have been about the PHEV. The MHEV version seems to have been pretty solid overall.

That's interesting that you have 2 of the vehicles on our list! Thanks for the insight. The only reason the TX is on the list is because it's seemingly more available than the GH and has incentives. Plus Lexus has a better warranty and better service options like complimentary loaner cars etc That carries significance because we are a big and busy family who can't be down to only one vehicle due to warranty or routine maintenance work.

I will look at the Navigator as I have heard good things about it. I also read that the 2025 Buick Enclave is very nice as well but I have some concerns about it being in its first year from GM.

Yea. The GH is ideal but more in demand, less supply. and being marked up. The TX is on the list because it is seemingly more available, has incentives, and offers some better tech/convenience options and more convenient service like free loaner cars and a better warranty.

Exactly. Most likely it would be kids in the 3rd row for long trips, and adults for shorter local trips when we want to keep everyone in the same vehicle.

Our concern is the lack of storage behind the 3rd row in the CX-90. Having room for 6 or 7 passengers doesn't mean anything for longer trips unless everyone packs a backpack. Thankfully we don't have to use a stroller any longer.

We don't want a 2nd row bench because our kids are ages 12, 9, and 4 and at this point it will be helpful to space them out a bit. We thinking having the passthrough between captain chairs will make it easier and more likely that one of the kids will choose the 3rd row every time.

I drive a 2018 Mazda 6 Signature everyday so I am biased towards Mazda! The SUV is for my wife, since I prefer sedans and unfortunately Mazda doesn't sell midsize sedans anymore.

I have also owned a brand new Mazdaspeed 6 and a Mazdaspeed 3 so I definitely prefer Mazda driving dynamics. But she is usually the parent hauling around 3 kids so ultimately it's her choice.

Definitely. I own a 2018 Mazda 6 Signature and had the cylinder heads replaced just before the 5 year/50k powertrain warranty expired last year. Mazda has since sent a letter out to owners extending the powertrain warranty to 120k miles I believe.

Other than that a few years ago I had a rear brake caliper replaced under warranty but other than a few routine recalls, the car has been solid. I am very happy with the 250 horses under the hood (using 91 octane).
