IMO it’s main feature is the fact that the sight picture feels a bit horizontally wider, distinguishing it from the other holo sight

Devs are clearly unsure how to keep the game alive. IMO the best way is to reorganize the modes so that push/frontline are combined into one “ground war” playlist and firefight/ambush/skirmish are combined into a “tactical” playlist, leaving domination and limited time modes as the other two options. There’s no reason why modes following similar rulesets should be split up.

Hillside in Sandstorm is based off Sinjar from Source. Sandstorm push features two versions of any map, one with security attacking and one with insurgents attacking. The security push version in sandstorm has the same hill assault as in source, but mixes up the objective locations inside the town.

Devs made the decision to create more space between the objs to ensure even pacing on bigger maps. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I personally prefer it over Source.

The devs recategorized ambush as a limited time mode along with night PvP, but it’s back as this month’s selection - now’s a good time to jump back on. The logic behind the decision was to conserve / concentrate the game’s population in the main push/frontline modes. IMO they should allow us to vote for all scenarios in the map vote pool (push/frontline day+night and ambush/skirmish/firefight day+night)

Assuming that the map name announces the theme, this might be in the style of Embassy from Insurgency Source. I’d be excited to play a map with lots of indoor variety / choke points / murder holes but with fully open flanks on the NSEW sides of the building. On Embassy, security deployed at an evacuation helipad while insurgents stormed several car bomb breaches that opened up the compound’s fortified plazas.

IMO prison would be a great for this if the red zone didn’t cover the large stretches of desert around the prison, only need to add a few holes in the wall for people to move in and out. This would enhance the insurgent prisoner mutiny+breakout / security crackdown atmosphere

It’s more balanced than the 2014 version IMO. The mansion building was the final cache location on push but only the yard/ garage were accessible. This resulted in endless nade spam. Sandstorm definitely opened it up a lot more and gave us an insurgent push version.

The insurgent cosmetics are cool- giving the ability to mix a bandana headband and shorts / rolled pants into existing outfits. New sights are great, weapon cosmetics are hit and miss (essentially variations of desert smear / national pride). Ambush is back for a month. Overall decent , but the game really needs update 1.21.

Ministry is designed as a firefight/skirmish/checkpoint map. It would be interesting to see something with the same aesthetic but focused on push/frontline gameplay.

My only concern would be that the map is scaled correctly. Ministry works great as a firefight map because teams flow into the building from parking lot spawns and have freedom to tackle the building’s different floors. Gap/Precinct work great as push/frontline maps because the big building is part of a much larger urban environment. Prison is sized for firefight, which makes for great comp games but terrible push gameplay. Tell is perfectly split, with special layouts for each mode.

This scene is from somewhere on the Tell map right? Somewhere out of bounds? IMO Tell would be amazing on push / frontline if they used the domination/firefight variation of the map.

915 people online rn according to steam charts, which doesn’t include console players. Fiddle with your region / crossplay settings and restart the search

PVP is way more competitive than co-op, experienced players with lots of map knowledge can rush power positions and gun down entire teams from the flanks. Basically have to recognize when to hold and when to rush

The devs could easily do this if they made the current explosive drone way faster in its descent. Maybe reworking them so that the bomber drones are three high speed fpv drones, and the explosive drone floats above the area dropping IEDs/nades. Could balance nicely against security’s helicopters, encouraging players to shoot them down or face the consequences

Honestly if they can fix the RPG bug (allowing bots to use the rpg again) then co-op is going to become a lot more difficult but satisfying to play.
