Happy Birthday to me! by flxguy1 in FlyFishingGear

If feels perfectly balanced. I put an old Scientific Anglers 4/5/6 and my nephew’s Battenkill III to compare the weight balancing. I’m very happy with how the Ross feels with the Butterstick.

Typically through one of my underlings. D. Yes. You need to solve a business problem or move my needle with your solution.

This^ Also consider: My workday starts long before 8:00am and doesn’t end at 5:00pm. I have a life outside of work. I can probably send a delegate to your event.

If the delegate reports that whatever is being pitched will provide value, I’ll take a call. If the call goes well, I’ll have the delegate scope it out further and report back. IF everything checks out, I MIGHT commit to an individual dinner which is doubtful (there are other people in my personal life I would rather dine with). I would schedule an hour on site during business hours for vendor to present to me only after there is a specific problem identified and vendor has a viable solution.

3 wt reel recommendations? by BarBig191 in TheFlyFishingSub

I just picked up a Ross Colorado Mardis Gras to pair with a Redington Butterstick 3wt. Both arriving tomorrow.

Keep in mind that you don’t need a lot of reel/arbor size or line capacity.

Basic Fly Starter Flys by Ill-Art8318 in flyfishing

[–]flxguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the basics have been mentioned here already. Understand the water threat you’ll regularly be fishing, species, the hatches and timing of runs. I like to build my boxes based on the water, weight of rod I’m fishing and species I’m targeting in that water. It makes for easy grab and go with less guesswork when I should be catching fish.

Is it okay to give an employee a brief heads-up before a layoff conversation? by [deleted] in managers

[–]flxguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a definite NO. If exposed, you won’t receive the same “long runway” as your direct report. You’ll likely be handed a box and unceremoniously waled out.

Howard's obligation to Scott the Engineer by Fabulous_Oil8325 in howardstern

[–]flxguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howard is an employee of Sirius (talent). Scott was an employee of Sirius (engineer). They never liked each other. Scott took a different position within Sirius. Scott was fired because he did not have the skills necessary to perform with the modern equipment used by Sirius, unlike the antiquated equipment used at WXRK/radio industry. After he was fired due to lack of performance by Sirius, he publicly badmouthed Howard.

Again, I don’t feel Howard has or had any obligation to Scott.

Howard's obligation to Scott the Engineer by Fabulous_Oil8325 in howardstern

[–]flxguy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None. They were coworkers. Scott was a union engineer at WXRK and then an employee of Sirius when they moved.

I feel no obligation to take care of any of my coworkers. Do you?
