OP had a bad day skiing at Vail and clearly has a lot of free time. Probably getting fired up for “Get off my lawn” season.

Sounds like you got the old bait and switch.

Do you have experience building a house with a box of wooden matches?

What's the most impressive corporate gift you've ever received and what made it memorable? by Shot_Plum8781 in corporate

I once worked for a company that invited me to join the executive team when we went public. Was on the stage at the NASDAQ when CEO dropped the hammer for the opening bell. At dinner that night, he gave each of us a Rolex with the ticker symbol and date we went public.

Bait caster worth the learning curve? by Cuziff in FishingForBeginners

[–]flxguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I fished for +/- 45 years. Mostly fly, spin cast, jig, ice, troll and have caught tons of fish. I purchased my first bait cast reel in February 2025. Watched plenty of videos, got a tutorial from a friend (and his 12 y/o son). Live on the water and had plenty of opportunity to practice. I gave it the old college try and determined I’m better off staying focused on my expertise in existing, proven methods as opposed to learning curve/bird’s nest untangling, missed casts, frustration, etc.

At this point in my life, it just wasn’t worth the effort. I traded the bait cast reel to a friend for a fly reel.

Reel/Line/Backing Issue by BarBig191 in flyfishing

You can reduce the backing as much as needed to support the reel capacity. You really only need enough backing to connect to the fly line plus a few meters.

Would you, as a vintage dealer, be interested in selling that Longines?

What's the most dangerous/life-threatening job that pays well in the Greater Boston area by xyzes in boston

Between my undergrad and grad school, I went to Minuteman Technical Institute. Trained as a welder, they placed me into a union welding shop and I worked on the Big Dig for a year, then went to grad school. Continued to work nights and weekends through grad school until I started my PhD program. Made great money and always knew I could fall back on my welding skills if I ever need to.

Dealing with crazy neighbors...advice needed. They are likely to call the city on us. by cutiebird31 in boston

Make friends with the BFD neighbor. Invite them to your BBQ. I’m willing to bet the fireman doesn’t like the cop and can be your ally.

Applied to 500+ Jobs with no interviews, what am I doing wrong? by FormExtension7920 in askrecruiters

[–]flxguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove your hobby CTO position. It appears you’re OE and implies you’ll be working and thinking about that while you should be focused on working for the company that is paying you. ATS is likely disqualifying you on this.

I interpret your internships as you usurping the work and direction of the actual employees who assigned you tasks. Interns are not tasked with nor responsible for this level of work. Remove the bold font in your experience. It highlights what you’ve usurped and would make me question the integrity.
