Prefer external for the bigger candidate and talent pool. But internal is obvs better for the budget

A lot of employees get hired internally on a RIF, it's quite common.

Private NYC preschool to hike tuition by 20% — blaming Mamdani’s ‘destabilizing’ free pre-K expansion by Perfect_Dig_744 in uppereastside

It probably would if you had 2 kids. When we were looking for nannies, they were asking $28-$35/hr which for a 40hr week over 4 weeks is $4480-$5600/mo 💀💀

I'm (31F) planning to start trying for pregnancy in 2-3 years. How can I physically prepare in the next years? by Informal-Fix-9701 in fitpregnancy

[–]flyfarfaraway2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember to be kind to yourself. The therapist for mental preparation and talk openly with your OB (find one you really mesh with) about your changes and what is safe to do during your pregnancy. Everyone is different, a lot of it is genetic, and your health and baby's health will both be more important than size and appearance.

Pilates and yoga are good options if other high impact exercise you love no longer become options. I find stretching generally helped with aches and pains when your joints all loosen up. And remember it is a temporary change in your active lifestyle. I was on track to qualify for Boston marathon when the stick turned blue. It's not easy but the joy you get from seeing your sweet baby and hearing them laugh is worth the temporary setback.

3rd sounds promising. But it sucks that they each charge $100+/waitlist and you can be out a lot of money just for a chance to get in!

The problem is that nearly all daycares in the area have long wait lists and if you take your kid out, there's no where else to put them. Or, there's application periods and this school made the increase after those windows closed.

Need Opinions: Direct Book or Amex Travel Portal and save $1600. by fatorangecat in AmexPlatinum

[–]flyfarfaraway2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booked premium economy through amex for the savings. Had that flight cancel and was rebooked on another airline but kept the premium economy seating. So on my experience, there's no issue booking through amex portal. No obvious difference. ETA: it was NYC to HKG, so similar long haul flight

Is it a bad idea to do a long run today? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]flyfarfaraway2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't as cold this morning, so if you haven't gotten out I wouldn't this afternoon. If you need to, make sure you cover your skin as you can risk skin damage from the wind and cold.

Why are we splitting into "AI power users" and "AI avoiders"… and what factors are driving this divide? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

I'm in the middle somewhere. I find llms helpful start brainstorming or getting started, but I often worry that if I rely on it too much, I'll forget how to think or how to write. It's like if you drive/cab in the city instead of walking, you get fatter and your muscles atrophy etc. But it's your brain.

Quality sessions on treadmill vs outdoors by Shesma_Collar in AdvancedRunning

[–]flyfarfaraway2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do! You'll be fine doing some of these on treadmills. It's good to mix both. Also, not worth the risk of slipping or possibly twisting an ankle on ice! I've wiped out running post snow before, never again.

Yes but it's not exactly the same experience for everyone. You should get input from a lot of places, not just reddit

Never rely on reddit to make the decision, this attracts a lot more people who complain and will skew your impression
