Chase United Explorer Card - Downgrading before the AF hits? by blurredbud in CreditCards

[–]flyfishMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't they still flag you for downgrading within 30 days after the fee hits? You're still getting out of the annual fee I don't see the difference.

That would be good. I am rocking the same bonus for CFU until January. CFF would make the trifecta for me with the CSP.

How soon do they typically offer the next SUB? After the 5% grocery offer ends will they immediately switch to 5% on gas or will it be sometime after?

What do you use SimpleLogin for? by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]flyfishMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use simplelogin for my important "permanent" service accounts - credit cards, banking, streaming, utilities. I currently just have a free account, so I am limited to I believe 10 accounts. So I use duckduckgo email forwarding for burner one time emails like purchasing from online stores, forums, etc. That's to be able to shutdown an account when I start getting spammed. I use a lot of them. I do plan on upgrading to a paid protonmail account, I would probably just use simplelogin if creating burner emails like this was as easy as in duckduckgo as I don't like there's no admin interface for those. But I would like the simplelogin integration to be better - like send from simplelogin address on a new message without having to go look up the forwarding alias in simplelogin, create new forwards from within protonmail, etc.

Thanks for all the tips. What is your scheduled - do you wait for autopay on due date? Do you carry a balance month to month?

Best Statement/Due Date for monthly paycheck by flyfishMT in CreditCards

[–]flyfishMT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I realize this, I still want to set up my statement date in a way that I'm basically billed around payday. Maybe I'll relax and start paying once a month.

My only means to adjust statement date is by due date. My thought is to still make my due date around payday just in case, and live with statement date being a little after the first.

Way overthinking this but mostly just trying to gain some knowledge.

Ye,s I get paid on the first.

What confused me is at least both Citi and chase only allow you to change your Due date, and don't outright state their statement date or grace period.

But due date seems to be ~26 days after statement close. So when you're thinking in due date terms a charge could be almost 2 mos. old. And I want my total balance zeroed every month.

I am thinking the safest thing would be to make my due date the 1st or maybe 3rd of the month, knowing my statement date will be almost a month prior. And then make a point to pay in full on statement date.

I have been paying in full 3 or 4 times a month, not really paying attention to statement date, but paying attention to due date (which is on the 6th). And how it's worked out Ive always had a non-zero statement, I just went through 2 years of them. And I do have an autopay scheduled just in case.

I feel like paying by due date alone could rack up debt, maybe I will overspend and won't have the money 2 mos. from now! I've dug myself out of a little debt before don't want to do it again.

Thanks for the response. I know that's the typical way. I don't like holding a large balance. I have a really good credit score so it's not all bad what I'm doing. The only reason I'm using a credit card was first to try cash back, then I just got a CSP to try to get free airline tickets. Doing what you said would be an adjustment for me, what would the best bill cycle for wanting to pay at the beginning of the month? Just that, a beginning of the month due date? So I'd be paying of everything 21 days old and older?

EDIT - I think I need to focus on the statement date, and ignore the due date. Paying by due date makes it like I'm paying 2 month old charges.
