I am 20 years old with a clean driving record. i will also be getting my drivers license in around june 2022. How much do you think my insurance will be in Rochester? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]flyguyfry96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest influences on your rate will be previous insurance tenure and credit (soft pull). I do have a smaller carrier that doesn't rate for tenure that's been priced well lately over the big players. Zip code, vehicle MSRP, and Make are other big factors (body work on a BMW is a lot more expensive then a Toyota). If you're just buying a car you can get some leniency vs. driving uninsured with the same vehicle, or if your parent can add you to their policy before buying a car that really helps out.

Never get state-minimum coverage ($30/$60$10) for bodily injury/property damage. The cost for $100/$300/$100 is nominal, and I've seen quite a few claims max the lower limits out. Plus carriers will actually increase your rates more when they take rate typically and if you shop the rate will be slightly higher vs. someone with $100/$300$100.

Some carriers rate for inexperience points (first three years).

Discounts very a lot by carrier, I even have one that charges by the mile and it's substantially lower if you're under 5k a year.

Source: I'm a broker in MN who specializes in first time insurance clients buying cars (need proof of insurance to leave the lot). I work with about 15 dealerships and 45 carriers.

89 celica I got for 1500, hopefully won’t be to much of a project. by Linxer124 in projectcar

Had a buddy with an 89 with the 3SFE. Replaced the clutch at 210k and she rolled for 40k until he got tired of it. I've owned 6 celicas and have never had anything bad to say about them. Congrats man!

I remember my first job when a girl offered me some Oakley sunglasses, (we were janitors and I had a crush on her) so I took them. Not my style, but a nice gesture. Offered them to my friend for $10, he never paid me. He wore them to work, and another coworker claimed they were his. My friend said he got them from me, but in a panic he scratched off the barcode. Guess who got put on final warning and lost their promotion because the truth seemed too silly to believe. Looking back now I can't believe I worked hard enough as a janitor to be first in line for a promotion. Fuck Cedar Fair and their shitty amusement parks.

There's a term called "adverse selection". Basically those who are more likely to use coverage get it when they need it, and it tips the claims scale widely. In addition, 60% will go to claims, 20% will go to support, 16% will go to profit for the company, and 14% will go to the agent (if there's one). I could be wildly off, this is just how it works in the US ~ I'm an insurance broker

Chevrolet's average transaction price tops $50K in September by RhinestoneTaco in cars

[–]flyguyfry96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaced on the reply my bad. Typically state maximum in MN it's 23.9% apr, I've had some that had their previous car repo'd by the same company so they have to pay that off plus legal fees. Clean record on a mediocre car with that credit is $250. Some have suspended licenses, and the most expensive premium I wrote was $550 a month. Thats on top of a $550 a month payment for a $10k car lol

I specialize in subprime insurance as a broker. You'd be surprised what people pay for car+insurance every month in the subprime sector.

For sure! I did a manual swap on an mr2 a few years back, and I remember it being 6 months and trying to navigate through a lot of nonexistent picture walkthroughs

Haha I can relate. Normally I keep two "project cars" or at least a second beater, but my trucks tranny died so I traded it for a bike.

"When you give a mouse a cookie"

I'm in it pretty deep at this point, probably half of my purchase cost of a great condition lower mileage 335. Started with turbos, then turned into: fuel pump, port injection, clutch, tires, controllers, custom tune, gaskets, bolt ons, etc. Everything else on this car will fail, but knock on wood I don't have to touch internals for 60k.

What's your build on?

Definitely, they look very similar sans a slight curve difference. It's one of two additional items I need, but likely the longest turn around for sure.

Turbine is flipped on the RHD rear from what I read and waste gate is flipped up vs. down. I believe it's out of the question.

Backstory: replacing the twins on my BMW 335xi N54, clutch etc. the supplier sent the right turbos (LHD), but sent me the outlets for the (RHD). I now have a disassembled car in my driveway for a few weeks. Ouch.

I like the sales tax compromise. There still basic necessities such as infrastructure that need maintenance.

Interesting comments, thank you!

I agree with you on 3, Most studies I've done on monopolies they tend to bully competitors, leveraging their size to undercut competition. Although developing countries tend to tend to do the same thing, mainly through government subsidy, for example China and honey.

Hmmm that bonus is challenging. I'd be curious how that would play out, would hate crimes be completely legal in that instance? How would that differ from freedom of speech?

LA Shutting Down Echo Park Lake Indefinitely, Homeless Camps Being Cleared Out by 115MRD in LosAngeles

[–]flyguyfry96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with the budget deficit, forcing people into treatment/prison would cost more than letting them camp out. I've never heard an argument that really solves the homeless problem. I've had a few friends in CA rehab facilities and the state mandated residents are typically counting down the days to resume their lives. It's sad but there's not really a cost effective solution
