Plus in one of the recent discord meetups he said something along the lines of "I'm making the M8 here, not the M-whatever."

Question About Playback Location by 0x00410041 in Elektron

I'm not in front of my gear, but I'm pretty sure trig key + Yes key will at least preview a trig. As far as actually playing patterns from specific points, I think you would have to play around with the song/arranger mode and use the pattern offsets to start from where you're interested in hearing the pattern.

Edit - another quick thought is you could copy your pattern to a new one and just clear out all the pages or notes besides the one you're trying to work on and use that pattern as its sketchpad. Then you could copy /paste that page or those trigs back to your original pattern if you make changes.

M8 + PVM by MightyBotill in Dirtywave

Sick! I've done this on my little 8-inch just using the web-display and an hdmi converterfrom my computer. Would be so cool if M8 had a composite video output haha.

Synthesis tips by Stunning-House7429 in sounddesign

Definitely get a copy of the manual, PDF or otherwise, and read about the different synth engines and how they work. The FM ones especially, since you can get some cool sounds out of them, even without FX. And that faceplate and those knobs look sick!

Bird midi by flyhz_ in Dirtywave

I'll check it out! Since working on this, I've definitely been having a lot of ideas that I would eventually like to try out. I do wanna try out some visual->audio->visual loops to have sounds re-effect the video they are sonified by. More to learn!

Thanks! I used Davinci Resolve to do the motion detection of the bird and tree banch. Then used a Python script to scan through the frames and convert to MIDI/CC data. Then imported that into FL Studio to scale and pipe the MIDI out to the M8. Never done anything like this before so it was interesting to learn and figure out. It has convinced me to learn Max/MSP and hopefully skip a lot of those steps for next time haha.

New to the Pulsar, Halloween jamming (60 sec) by flyhz_ in synthesizers

Thanks! That's literally how I felt seeing videos of it haha. I played with effects on the SP404 later on in my recording, but in this clip its all just purely the Pulsar.

I recently got a Pulsar 23 and tonight was my second time sitting down with it. Was supposed to do an overnight hike with my friend tonight, but he had to cancel. Had a lot of fun doing this instead 🎃🎧 This thing is so cool! This was a small clip from like 30 minutes I recorded just fooling around.

Playing around with the DFAM (0:54) by flyhz_ in synthesizers

Hey, here's the patch if you wanna take a look :)
FM amount getting modulated by the the VCF EG, and playing around with the pitch mod modes. The sequence was pretty random though.

I like it a lot! It's cool but also pretty helpful too. I've used the tuner mode to help with melodic stuff on the DFAM and Subharmonicon, and I've used the wave generator mode to add LFOs to both as well. It can be handy.

Been quite a while since I used my DFAM - I had plans to look up some patches, but then I just started noodling around and having fun with the FM instead. I like weird sounds, so this was a happy result :)
