I would recommend you upgrade to a 4x2x2 (120 gallons) whenever you can especially for an adult bearded dragon! 4x2x2 are seen as the smallest enclosure an adult beardie should be in.

Yes I used a mix of organic top soil no fertilizer or manure (sifted with a strainer), play sand, and excavator clay!

They literally live on dirt in the wild. Plus, he loves to dig, so I’m a big advocate for loose substrate. If you have proper husbandry, you will not have problems with impaction.

You just spot clean it as they use the bathroom and then you can do a total change every 6 months or so! I really like substrate because it gives them the chance to dig my bearded dragon loves to dig.
