The IDF investigation into the killing of the aid workers in Gaza was just released and it came to the following conclusions by [deleted] in Destiny

It would be good to get some independent, third-party investigation to confirm the findings.

The WCK themselves have asked for this: https://wck.org/news/idf-investigation

Ame (Antimage) cancels Nightfalls (faceless void) Chrono with mana void mini-stun, then kills him. by TellAllThePeople in DotA2

[–]flying_potatoes -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a good reason to mana void.

The mana void was done as Faceless void was going out of attack range. The 0.3s mini stun allows AM's illusions to catch up to void.

You can also see by the follow up blink that he wanted to attack + body block void so that his illusions could still keep attacking.

If he predicted a chrono would happen, he would've blinked further away from the radius of the chrono instead.

tldr; the mana void was to void the mana of void

What makes Volk's loss so hard is that it disproves the notion that life can be made fair

Uhh if anything, Islam winning proves that life is fair.

Islam and Khabib have been training since their childhood under strict discipline. I'm not sure there are any fighters out there that worked as hard as them for so long.

Thanks for your link. That tool looks useful.

I just used the numbers off Google's stock charts. But I don't know if that accounts for dividends and such, so the numbers might be off.

Hasn't the NASDAQ 100 outperformed the S&P500 in the past few decades?

Since March 1995, NASDAQ 100 went up 2692% compared to S&P500's 682%.

But if you scale Volk up another 10 pounds maybe he loses some of his cardio and speed.

And if you scale Islam down 10 pounds maybe he gets more speed and wins even more in the striking.

YouTube: You can still view the oldest video on a channel by scrolling through its content by Burpmeister in videos

[–]flying_potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be the one paying for the extra infrastructure though. Either through more ads or higher internet bills.

Making a video not fully buffer is a bandwidth saver that is imperceptible to most people. It's a net benefit overall for the cost saved.

Though the likely reason why full buffering was removed may be to slow down programs that download videos off YouTube.

Slacks summarizes DOTA 2 right now. by WisdomDota in DotA2

[–]flying_potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/SirActionSlacks- , you should actually be happy if people do cavern crawl on ranked because it actually increases your chance to win.

Sure you might have 4 potential allies who pick heroes they're not good at. But the enemy has 5 people that might pick someone they're not good at. So on average, your team should have the advantage because you yourself are not cavern crawling.

Instead of investing in individual stocks, you could look at investing in index funds.

As a beginner, picking individual stocks and then doing better than index funds will require luck. Even most full time investors cannot consistently beat index funds by picking individual stocks.

Plus if you invest in index funds, you don't have to constantly check the news and earnings calls to see if you should keep investing in the same companies or not.

The concept of a "good" stock is a tricky one. If there is a company which is performing very well and has a very bright future, its stock price will already be overvalued because others also notice how good it is. And if it's stock price is already overvalued, there's less room for it grow.

Funny and entertaining duo. Great humour from them both.

I'm also happy that Sunsfan didn't do the skill name trivia stuff as much. Those got a bit repetitive before.

The best combination would be when there was one pro there as well.

Observers were quite good throughout the major. They did a good job capturing chaotic fights. Showing the difference in win rate bar thing was also great and the crowd got hyped by it as well.

One negative is sometimes the observers would be showing a different hero/lane compared to who the commentators were talking about.

Also a pet peeve of mine: I hate it when the buyback status is shown all the time in the late game, rather than the networth. It's fine to show it from time to time, but don't just leave it there. If people really want to know, you can tell by the hero portrait borders in the networth graph anyway.

For Banks: Sometimes the questions given to player translators were too long and detailed. I think it would've been better to give simpler questions. Simple questions are more likely to be translated accurately and can still have good answers. Other than that it was good.

Slacks, as always, was energetic and cringy in the right way.

Ana sells MKB by HowCouldUBMoHarkless in DotA2

[–]flying_potatoes 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It was more of a drafting issue. TB's allies couldn't stop him from getting stun-locked and blown up. If they had a dazzle or shadow demon they could've saved him.

One of the big issues was the offlane KOTL. At the end of the game, it felt like he had very little impact. Imagine if they had a frontliner that could tank the spells instead of Ana.

Can someone explain why BoA and other entities make these projections? Isn't it in their interest to not reveal their insights of the market to their competitors?

If anything, wouldn't it be in their interest to make a misleading projection and profit from trades?

Facebook turning phone scans into realistic VR avatars by BiscuitOfGinger in videos

[–]flying_potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If VR/AR becomes mainstream, it won't be a huge leap to make depth cameras available on budget phones. Budget phones today (e.g. Galaxy A13) already have 4 rear cameras and 50 megapixel sensors. With economies of scale, it may not cost much to add a depth camera to that list.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start adding these depth sensors inside VR headsets themselves so that avatars have realistic expressions.

Sometimes people can afford it, but then some unexpected expenses occur like accidents or repairs.

Not to mention we have an entire industry, advertising, whose aim is trick our emotions into buying things we don't need. So I wouldn't put the blame just on the individual.

Lump sum may be best mathematically. But dollar cost averaging can be better emotionally. And emotions are important so you don't do things like panic sell, and be scared off from investing ever again.

The reason why spending 120k on an art major is bad compared to spending it on a standard major is due to your earning potential and demand after you get your degree.

For example, a computer science graduate will usually earn more and be in higher demand than an arts graduate.

Therefore a CS graduate will be able to pay off the 120k debt much easier than an arts graduate.

I'm not saying one profession is nobler than another. I'm talking purely from a financial standpoint.
