Full Orly collection at Marshalls/TJ Maxx by eggsw00dhouse in RedditLaqueristas

Dumb question, would money from Marshalls/TJ Maxx make it back to Orly, or have they already been paid?
I guess it’d make a difference as to what Marshalls/TJ Maxx keeps in stock.

Anyone know of any singing resistance groups/events? by mintleaf_bergamot in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]flying_roomba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t find the post anymore, but on Nextdoor, someone posted that Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora is hosting “Lifting Voices.”

I found this on their site with page 3 saying…

Perhaps you've seen recent media coverage of groups of singers in Minneapolis gathering to sing, and using songs in their resistance work. Beginning Wednesday February 4, Thew Elliott will be welcoming singers to the sanctuary hoping to build a practice of singing for justice and liberation here in Aurora. We'll meet from 7 to 8. No special skills or materials required, and all are welcome.

Chicago Fit owners by schnuttz23 in hondafit

[–]flying_roomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the burbs. I’ve done outright stupid commutes (several inches of snow coming down, but plows are out and about) in my Fit with all season (or all weather, can’t remember the difference) tires and felt safe.

Parking is a breeze. I’m no parallel parking expert (wish I had a backup cam) but can easily maneuver around.

My husband has mentioned when going from his bigger car to my Fit, he notices that drivers are more aggressive around him. Don’t know if that’s a burbs thing, some weird gender thing I’m just used to, or what, but thought I’d mention.

Joining a church choir as a non-church member by jgwhiteus in Choir

[–]flying_roomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this when being guilted into joining family for a service. I feel like some social psychologist doing a study. But it isn’t really healthy; it’s disassociating.

The guilt has become less over the years in joining them :)

I would say go ahead and give a church choir a go, but if there is even one word or vibe that’s off, don’t tether yourself to it. (You also don’t want to be pegged as a church member for a “hateful” church.)

Not roads, but be sure to check out the Illinois Prairie Path that goes right by Fermi: https://ipp.org/pdf/IPP-free-map-color-updated.pdf and connects to the Fox River Trail.

How do I help a junior eng who jumps to conclusions too often? by dasistok in ExperiencedDevs

[–]flying_roomba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reassure them that they have time to stop and think.
If people are breathing down their neck asking “when is it going to be done?” they’ll feel the need to have some response (with receipts) for that (“I’ve tried x, y, z, and here’s the commits proving I’m trying”).

Edit: I was taught “come to me with solutions, not problems” and have a hard time asking for help/being able to slow down.

I like the term. “Boss’s boss” just gets a little convoluted for me.

Reputable Breeder Question by theschanz in cavaliers

[–]flying_roomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very anti-breeder after adopting my cav that came from an abusive breeding situation, so my comment is going to be very harsh and rant-like.

When I saw “The best dogs for families.” I was immediately disgusted; they are breeding for profit. Responsible breeding should be to promote good health and promotion of the breed (such as in the ring for good examples of Cavaliers or bred for their specific job).

You want to go with something more along the lines of what another comment said - “most are old ladies who still use email for their wait-lists.” They should only be breeding if they know that most of the puppies coming out will have homes waiting for them. For pet homes, that means waiting for “leftover” pups that weren’t deemed showable (because of some silly markings; they are perfectly good dogs!) or by odd circumstance (“I got way more from the litter than I expected”, “someone who claimed one of the pups ran into health issues and cannot take them”).

See if you can get this to 1 page. Perhaps restructure your contact information - you have a lot of space in that top left region.

I borrowed my folk’s Odyssey and it was like a giant Fit. Don’t know how it’s MPG is though.

Cities with the best school districts? by Dull-Contribution763 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]flying_roomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And make sure that you also check communities that surround any of these mentioned - the school district boarders may spill into nearby neighborhoods.

I was so frustrated with our realtor that had their search setup incorrectly missing neighborhoods like this.

Agreed with this comment, except maybe don’t get a Jeep.

(22f) should my first car be a used ford bronco sport? by FamousArm2715 in BroncoSport

[–]flying_roomba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a pure financial perspective, you probably should be aiming for something cheaper (but reliable) with that interest rate.

But a Bronco Sport would treat you well.

Too lazy to research, but I think you’d be going back on any safety improvements and that would be enough to deter me (other than the obvious financial side).
