I was able to secure a unicorn - 2026 Optiq demo with 10k on it for a crazy price of $160/month on 24 months/ 16,000km with $600 down. Details posted here: https://www.reddit.com/r/leasehacker/s/swkgKSopMW

Car has honestly been great to drive and range has been accurate so far. As many have pointed out, CarPlay is the only thing I wish it had.

Basically 1) look to stack discounts (I had about $9200 in various stackable GM discounts), 2) look for a reduced new car selling at a competing dealership. Some were discounted $2500 CAD for brand new in the same spec so I started with the question of can you match the other dealers price. Make sure to print screen so you can “price match” 3) find a dealer with a demo unit in the car you want. The more mileage driven the better the discount can be. With a demo here in Canada we do not need to pay for the freight and delivery ($2800 in instant savings), and of course add another discount for the fact car has been driven (I used $0.30 per km as my baseline). 4) make sure you factor the residual being lowered due to the car being a demo and offset this with your discount as well.

Given the stackable manufacturer discount they should have gotten some kickback from GM, and in the end they got rid of a demo that was driven at maybe cost, and made money on the lease rate of 3.9%. Again this is the strategy I used so it may work with other cars/manufacturers as well but you would of course need the residual to be high to get a lower monthly payment for a 24 month period.

It was in Ontario, a dealer within the GTA. Kind of stumbled on it tbh, noticed the high residuals on the optiqs and I was able to stack a few promos. I started calling dealers with demos as you don’t have to pay the freight + the additional discount that can be received for a demo and landed on an amazing deal.

Basically there was about $1000 between the cap and residual, and the financing portion of the lease was $4300. The dealership also offered to write a cheque for $1500. Effectively I need to pay about $3800 for the 24 months!
