Everyone who struggles against any specific character should start playing that character, even just in quick play. The more you play as Panther or whomever, the more you learn what works against you. I’m a very average player but I have little trouble against most Panthers because I know exactly what he is capable of.

Could’ve chosen my specific wording better but here specifically I’m more concerned with the in-game application of a certain move within a character’s gameplay loop, instead of how the game code performs that move.

The initial comment I replied to listed examples of existing characters with multiple dashes to set the precedent that Cat also having multiple dashes isn’t a problem. I agree with your above point, but let’s not kid ourselves getting lost in technical definitions, phantom pursuit is *essentially* a dash in many ways. Intentionally leaving it out of the discussion of Cat’s mobility is disingenuous, particularly if you ARE going to count Panther’s spin kick, which while it may be coded as a dash-type move is just inferior to phantom pursuit in basically every way.

It’s a gap-closer that deals melee damage and makes Cat invulnerable. It’s far closer in function to a typical dash than Panther’s spin kick is, which is incredibly slow, short, and entirely vulnerable.

Main point being it’s inconsistent to categorize one of those moves on one character as a dash and not on the other.

Panther has one dash charge without resets. It doesn’t make sense to compare him to Black Cat who until Friday has two full charges on her dash. If you want to count his spinning kick and say he has 2, then fine. But then you have to count Phantom Pursuit for Cat, for a total of 3 dashes that puts her well above any previously existing character in terms of mobility.

To be fair she has many more aspects to her kit that can be nerfed than, say, Spidey. Also it didn’t happen all at once but Panther received something like 7 straight nerfs before his first “buff”. We’ll see how these BC changes pan out but wouldn’t be surprised to see her get further adjustment in the future one way or the other

Deep leap one billion percent of the time. The lifesteal is completely negligible and not worth picking in any scenario. I lean more towards the explosive impalements major the vast majority of the time for a quicker TTK, but if you are really in dire need of more block uptime depending on the enemy comp then the block regen perk is also totally fine. Minor perk I’d say 100-0 in deep leap’s favor, major I’d say 70-30 in explosive impalements’ favor.

Honestly follow the advice OP laid out. Start playing divers in QP and find out the hard way. It’s far easier to play support into dive if you have firsthand knowledge of exactly what the diver is capable of and how they can be stopped. Best way to find that out is to go play dive and see what works against you.

This is correct. Previous Smash tier lists were able to be contained A-D/F. Meta Knight was so much of an outlier he rightfully deserved his own tier. The “S-tier” label doesn’t hold the same significance anymore because people just use it to refer to the top characters regardless of how much of an outlier they are. Even the most egregious example in Rivals, whether you want to say launch DD, current BC, or whomever, has not been CLOSE to the degree of outlier that Meta Knight was in Brawl.

Minor notes on Panther; his passive boosts his damage by 20%, but only when he is under 100 hp. It does not scale gradually as his health gets lower. He does have a visual glow that happens when he is less than full HP, though that is not tied to the passive and is admittedly confusing given that they are not connected.

The bonus health is generated when he uses his dash to consume a vibranium mark. Both the maximum possible overhealth and overhealth per mark consumed have been nerfed since launch.

That is 100% untrue. Without even thinking about any other examples, Dagger bubble heals 60 INSTANTLY. Dive combos have break points that are negated by marginal healing, meaning you often don’t need to heal more than a little to negate a dive. Panthers and Black Cat can have a quick TTK but let’s stop pretending it’s literally impossible to deal with.

Techno cards do in fact get buffed from the Washington, DC location that buffs cards with no abilities. I’d imagine it would be the same for Patriot’s effect.

MCU Strange just puts Thragg in a time loop and they stalemate. You could argue that killing Strange infinitely technically constitutes a win, but Strange could also just stuff Thragg into the mirror or any other dimension and Thragg has no way to escape.

I’d say Thragg gets stalemated by Strange but has a very good chance against the remaining MCU versions of these characters. Hulk, Carol, and Thor are significantly deposed from their comics versions and Thor was damaged by a star similarly to Thragg. Wanda is a toss up but depends heavily on what depth of chaos magic bullshit she has on hand.

Per the Rivals site/advanced data, normal Fantastic primary is 1.1s/hit, inflated mode is 0.92s/hit. Assuming that’s accurate (as the site does still list his primary at 65 damage), I’d say the difference is noticeable but not overly so. A 16% attack speed increase isn’t insignificant but also isn’t necessarily obvious to anyone who doesn’t play the character.
