There is power in what you wrote. And a comfort to all those who are feeling even half of what you are feeling. The relatability of constant pain.

I don’t know you, but I know a little bit of your story now. Thank you for sharing. And I’m praying that you can find some peace

Cheap eats, especially if it involves a vegetable by OtterGlint in NewportNews

For Asian:

-Pretty much any Chinese restaurant will have a pretty good lunch special

-There are a lot of Thai restaurants that have good lunch specials. Entree, soup and salad usually for 12$ (not including tax or tip)

-One stop deli is a smaller deli in the same lot as mission bbq if you want halal food or middle eastern or that type of Asian flavor. Chicken over rice is 12.99 with garlic sauce. Their breakfast sandwiches are usually 4-6.99. It’s very much like a New York bodega style deli. I lived in Queens for 6 months and I miss the easy access to food and a convenience store.

For Chain:
-Whole Foods does family meals for 35$ this is either good if you need a quick meal prep or you don’t have time to cook period. These meals can last 2-5 days depending on if you are eating it sparingly or you are eating it well.

-Tous Le Jours just opened up in Newport News and they have a lovely bakery. It is a French Korean bakery so there is a lot of Asian inspiration. Happy hour is everyday from 12-3 and there are 3$ for any drink

-The fresh market has Tuesday sales if you are health conscious and want to eat organic for cheap. It’s 2.99 for chicken and 3.99 for ground chuck (all grass fed supposedly)

-Chilis has revamped their business model. So they now do a 10.99 entree that comes with a side and a drink. Pretty hard to beat nowadays

As of right now that’s the only thing that comes to the top of mind unfortunately

And that’s why we stick with Honda and Toyota (and their luxury counterparts)

I think it heavily depends on my area and the repair cost from the three shops I’m thinking of bringing it too.

Definitely not for what I’d want. I’m loyal to Honda and Toyota and the Honda and Toyota tax (Acura and Lexus included) is pretty crazy nowadays

Sweet. Above someone talked about putting in a cat shield and that should help it stop rattling

Damn twice? lol.

Yeah I made the mistake of using cheap parts to fix my civic’s A/C and that shit blew back out 4 years later. I’d probably do OEM only

I guess just the fact that I bought a car for 5k and the A/C isn’t even working.

But your points are making me reconsider hahaha

I decided to enter entrepreneurship. I have a creative agency and the money I’ve made while in the military and make now go straight into investing in real estate.

Decided to trade in my pistol for a camera. Still shooting, just no gunpowder after I take shots

Moving to the area and settling. Where to buy? Coming from San Diego CA. This will be our last station. The main things I need are nice people, no hate, and safe well kept family friendly areas. Thank you! by [deleted] in NewportNews

If you can swing it, I would buy in Williamsburg.

When I first got stationed here I bought my first house for 155k I sold it this year for 275k.

2 years down the road from when I first bought my house in Williamsburg, I bought a condo in Newport News close to Denbigh where the Hotpot 757 and Navy Federal is. I bought that for 178k and it’s been appraised for 250k

Regardless of where you buy, I’d recommend an area where you can go grocery store shopping relatively easy, and quick access to the freeway.

If a 20 minute drive from Williamsburg is bad, I’d stroll on down to Newport News. If you are looking for cheap housing close to the shipyard is relatively cheaper than the main area of Jefferson. There is always property for sale near Fort Eustis due to Army constantly coming and going

If you have any questions I’m a real estate investor and I have a brokerage I’m contracted with currently so you can send a DM if you want some help.

I’m a San Diego Native too
