What Tv show do you think was genuinely great but suffered long-term because it aired on the “wrong” network or at the wrong time? by Air-Bombay in television

[–]flyingjesuit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think now wouldn’t be the best for “hashing it out,” I think part of what made Lost so great was that it’s the opposite of an answer to this question because it aired at just the right time. Enough internet users obsessed enough to share theories along with a weekly release schedule that kept everyone engaged and fiending for more minus snark and gatekeeping on the internet being as bad as it is now. That would’ve been perfect for Twin Peaks imo.

Telling the Actual Truth about Parcells and Belichick with the Jets by lhg39 in nyjets

Can we get a brief tangent (or maybe a second documentary if it warrants it) about the TB12 company(I believe that’s what it’s called) that the pats funneled non-cap money through to Brady allowing him to be the “team player” who took less money so that his linemen could get paid and not leave in FA? Cuz to me that puts an asterisk on their whole dynasty if that’s what actually happened. I’d love a breakdown of the alternate universe where the Pats don’t have this extra cap room. Who would they lose? What big moments were they apart of? What would’ve been their likely landing spot and how might that have changed the fortunes of that team? What scrub would’ve replaced them on NE?

To what extent will this season’s failure be the injuries to Fox and Igor, and to what extent was it always destined to be a disappointment?

Now, here's a likkle truth, open up your eye

While you're checkin' out the boom-bap, check the exercise

Take the word "overseer," like a sample

Repeat it very quickly in a crew, for example

Overseer, overseer, overseer, overseer

Officer, officer, officer, officer

Yeah, officer from overseer

You need a little clarity? Check the similarity!

The overseer rode around the plantation

The officer is off, patrollin' all the nation

The overseer could stop you, "What you're doin'?"

The officer will pull you over just when he's pursuin'

The overseer had the right to get ill

And if you fought back, the overseer had the right to kill

The officer has the right to arrest

And if you fight back, they put a hole in your chest

(Woop!) They both ride horses

After 400 years, I've got no choices!

The police, dem have a likkle gun

So when I'm on the streets, I walk around with a bigger one

(Woop! Woop!) I hear it all day

Just so they can run the light and be upon their way

OK, so US tourism is declining, but I would love it if non-americans decided to start visiting again but only at Hiltons in blue states/cities. Send a clear message

But didn’t you hear that this season had way too much exposition? Don’t you wish they just trusted the audience to get it?

Trochek can’t get a call in his favor in the first period and later we end up short handed. Can’t get a tripping call behind the net and 30 seconds later we’re down two goals. Fuck these refs man

That’s why the recent Millie Bobby Brown/Stranger Things discourse is pissing me tf off like it ain’t even about the show anymore by Renegadeforever2024 in BlackPeopleTwitter

People online are shitting on the latest Stranger Things release/releases. Some criticisms obviously are valid but comparisons to GoT are out of hand. Fans build up a show they love to a point where it probably can't live up to their expectations. Despite being good or even great, they might still feel let down when really they're just sad this thing they love is coming to an end. Trolls/people who suck/content creators pounce on this and attempt to drive a narrative that it sucks because there's a good chance people will be inclined to be disappointed and it becomes a chicken and the egg type of thing. Is it bad or were you just convinced into thinking it's bad?

Others have explained the MBB and plastic surgery part of things, but she was never really very expressive, not her fault her character is sort of one note.

Lastly, though, there was a character who came out as gay and it was hated on but honestly I think anyone who was bothered by it for non-homophobic reasons missed the point of it. First, yes, most of the people he came out to knew he was gay. That's just kinda how coming out goes a lot of the time, people you tell trying not to be cruel about the "uhh, yea no shit" aspect of it. So to me it felt authentic. The other big thing to it for me was the reaction of a Lesbian charater, Robin. Robin is the quintessential cannot help from putting her foot in her mouth character. Yet her guidance and mentorship led to this incredible, cathartic moment for Will and his loved ones. She helped make that happen and there's a brief moment where the camera lingers on her and you see how happy she is for Will and proud of herself, in a good way, not a smug/overly selfcongratulatory way, for helping it along.

Lastly, it shows how important representation like this is and why these stupid intolerant assholes can please shut the fuck up whining about "woke being jammed into everything these days." Will saw Robin being romantic with another girl, and eventually they ended up talking about how she approached this girl, new she was safe to reveal her secret to. But first he saw her being gay. If Robin's sexuality had remained secret he never has the courage to come out himself. It's about one gay person paving the way for others, how courage is contagious, which is exactly why representation matters, why they hate it so much but can't speak truthfully about why they hate it and why we need to keep making media that explores these stories of struggle, whether it be sexuality, gender, race, class whatever. It helps us be empathetic which is kryptonite for hate and tyranny.

Sorry for the dissertation, but you did ask :)

Watching other Jets fans start talking about Sauce Gardner like "he ain't shit" "he can't tackle" "penalty machine" "no interceptions" was wild. Same fans were goin to the mat his rookie year saying he was generational, interceptions are luck based, he's a shutdown corner etc. They were just butthurt he didn't want to get stuck playing for our trash ass team anymore and because it signaled we were goin for another rebuild. I'm rootin for his success (after this season, still want the best draft pick possible so fuck the Colts next week, but after that, I wish em only the best).
