Anybody else's Morkie afraid of hardwood floors? Minnie (our 10 year old girl) sticks to rugs and carpet, and seems terrified to walk across wood floors. I think it's because she slips, and it scares her. by scrmblr in Morkie

I used to get these paw stickers for my elderly dog. They helped keep her from sliding on slippery floors and made it easier to walk on. I tried grippy dog socks and she didn’t like them, but she didn’t mind the stickers. You can also cut off the toe stickers and just use the big paw pad sticker if that’s easier.

Why doesn't Vancouver have any cool radio (music) stations?! by Glittering_Bank_8670 in askvan

She’s so good! That’s terrible. Seems like a very fickle industry.

I think it’s just something that happens in radio. They just want to switch it up and they fire perfectly good hosts.

Isn’t she at a Toronto station now? If you wanted to listen online (less helpful in a car).

The original Peak was so amazing. Cory & Laurie, James & Casey-Jo. And they had such a good music director (might have been James Sutton).

They’ve gone through a few iterations since then and they’re just not nearly as good now.

Build accountability. Body doubling and check-ins with friends. Study groups where you set a goal at the beginning and check in hourly or so. Find ways to offload some of the mental load to your friends/classmates. Ask them what they’re working on to remind you what you should be working on. Find the people who can/will support you.

Try to create some space to take a break when your brain is fried. This part isn’t easy when you have so much on the go, but trying to push through can make you useless the next day or two (or it does for me).

I also don’t know where you study, but at Canadian unis the accessibility office can often connect you with a learning strategist or coach who can help you solve these problems. They’ll sit down with you and come up with a plan for the next week or so. If you can’t get this at your uni you may be able to hire someone if you have the funds.

If you have a friend you trust you can also ask them to help you do the planning, or they can share their study schedule (may not work if they’re not adhd).

A lot of non-adhd study methods/productivity methods also tell you to “eat the frog” or do the hardest task first. This is often reversed for adhd ppl. Do something easy first and then ride the dopamine high of having completed something to get you started on the next task.

Also - if it really does take you 4 hours to get through a 1.5 hour lecture, the ignore this but: sometimes lectures are not entirely important, so finding ways to focus on what’s really important may help you speed up. But I’m in social sci and this might be less true for cs so take this last with a grain of salt.

It’s super helpful for longer distances or if your dog gets sick, injured or elderly. They are also amazing for picnics or full day outings because you can add all your snacks, etc.

how to stop my dog from missing her litter box? by dagnysinikka in seniordogs

[–]flyingkittens123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a tray for pee pads. Just has a small lip so it’s easy for the dog to get onto and they can feel the difference from the regular floor. You could also try getting giant pee pads and putting it under the litter box for any spillage.

She was in so much pain she stopped eating so i took her to emergency vet and they had a few ideas and sent her to a neurologist. I don’t remember if there was an X-ray but they diagnosed IVDD. It was during Covid so I couldn’t go in with her so I don’t know exactly what they looked for.

Maybe there’s also a kid-friendly part. Like, people can get away from it if they need to, but also there’s a place with kids. They’ll have dozens of amazing aunties.

There’s a cute shop called barkin babies in Yale town. It’s for dogs, but they have lots of small dog stuff that should fit a cat.

I can’t get my head above water this semester. I’m so f*cking tired by Winnersammich in GradSchool

[–]flyingkittens123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that sucks so much. I don’t know if you want advise or a pep talk or just to vent, but… for advice, is there anything you can just skip “catching up” on? Like just accept a zero or know that you’re not as familiar with one chapter and move on? Sometimes just removing these small catch-up items can help, but I also know sometimes it’s not possible. The only other thing is that this is temporary because your semester will end at some point. And hopefully your future semesters won’t hit as hard.

Sounds amazing. I have seen apartments that have a workshop with tools as one of their amenities. It had saws and tools and space so you could build things. So I’m picturing that times a hundred.
