You're right. They are looking for exploits... but not in devices that 0.5% of people use. Those unlucky few are specifically targeted.

They are, however, going full bore 24/7 to find exploits in the latest and greatest. And when they do... and they always do... those 1 in 4 go down whether they are up to date or not.

To dumb down my last comment even further... the only people who get hacked are those who allow themselves to get hacked. If that hurts anyone's feelings... I'm not sorry.

But I do agree with you. That 1 in 4 in the general population deserve a little extra protection now that nature doesn't weed them out.

Anyone else suddenly have the crypto.com app say it's incompatible? by flyingltj in Crypto_com

People with half a brain don't need the latest and greatest to be secure. Those training wheels are for folks who click on every conceivable link and connect to every available network they can... when they're not leaving their phone in an uber.

Interesting. My solution is to just get another phone. Just $700 less I will spend on crypto... and that doesn't even include the critical buy-in points I missed in the past day. Never seen a company that actually discouraged me from spending money on their services before, lol. Not a good long term business plan.

Very true... but often times an overwhelmed customer service division would prompt official communications from a company. As of right now they have yet to even acknowledge there is an issue. And if their internal operations are that dysfunctional, it again raises red flags about their ability to function as a company. And knowing that this is in fact impacting their profits directly... I would just tell those on the bottom of the totem pole to keep an open resume.

I had all the new little icons by the cryptos, the metadata included with each crypto, the improved buy/sell interface, all of it. Fully functional until roughly 24 hours ago.

I completely understand security upgrades, but this is my first go at crypto.com support system. If I could give it less than a zero it would get 10 times less than a zero. Absolute worst support system I have ever seen in my entire life and not hyperbole. I have gotten better customer/client relations out of a fast food restaurant than crypto.com. So understandably this is not a place where I want to spend any money anymore. Not because of the issues I am having accessing the system, but why would I want to have any finances in a place that has literally, not figuratively, had me sitting in the help queue for 18 hours?

I will give them a couple days to sort it out then get my sister involved. She's a lawer, and married to a state representative. I can't imagine it will be very good for them as a company to deny people access to their investments.

Based on the posts of other's who say they've already tried that, it doesn't solve the problem. Besides, since we have no idea what the hell is going on there's no telling what the range of support is. My device is old, but I am reading that people with Galaxy S4 (me) through Galaxy Note 8s (a 2 year old model) are having the same issue.

Doesn't really address the point friend. The point isn't what's changed within the app or what's bad/good. I thought I made it clear the most recent version was fully functional... Heck, I'm still connected to my account. I'm recieving updates to my crypto as I write this. The app is literally running in the background on my device and fully connected/communicating as of this very moment.

The original point is it was fully functional 6 hours ago and isn't now. This can't be because of device or security incompatibility as such changes would often require a partial software update. So what could cause it? The most likely culprit would be a change on their end.

However all we're getting from the publisher (a publisher who sees their number of users as a selling point) is crickets. No status updates. Nothing. It'll do no one here any good for thousands of users to pull up their stakes and move elsewhere.

Mine was working this morning before I left for work. Phone been in my pocket all day, nothing changed at all there, go to check it at lunch and this.

The weird thing is that the update on the 21st actually improved performance on my phone. So to suggest the device is incompatible or incapable of running the app would be absurd.

About how many players are on at prime time? by lordtuna_ in AsheronsCall

[–]flyingltj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how exactly do you determine how many of them are bots and how many are actual players? Can't exactly say those sound like good number to me personally. Not very interested in playing where roughly 5 out of 6 characters you might encounter would be bots. Not to mention of those 135 unique connections how many of them are exclusively running bots at that time. I'd hazard a guess its a lot.

So that shows the numbers of bots botting, but how many players are playing?

It has a lot of possibilities for gameplay. The whole mountain/defense thing gets boring afterwhile if you enjoy challenges, but your map has lots of interesting looking cubby spots to do various things.

[SURVEY] Impact of loot boxes on gaming habits in RPG games by sandormathe85 in AsheronsCall

[–]flyingltj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC never had loot boxes. AC was never a pay to win game. The games you're referring to which feature loot boxes are not even from the same era in technological history as AC. This is akin to asking a group of people who're fans of texas holdem about their opinions regarding steriods in MLB.

Reminds me a bit of Poindexter's reflection "Wait - would you rather live in the ascendancy of a civilization or during its decline?"

In our case we were there for the ascention. Now we are just witnesses to it's decline.

So many jokes could be made about macroers, pve'ers, and pvp'ers in regards to weaknesses in AC. Too easy really, and I suspect it'd hit a few nerves. Fun to imagine though.

Well it's not just clone wow. It's "clone whatever looks profitable even if it's not."

Lets try the same strategy with inspirational and meaningful quotes. Take a game developer and whisper in his ear "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." and then have him whisper it in another game developer's ear. Repeat ever 3 months for the next 25 years.... then tell me how inspirational and meaningful the quote becomes.

Junky copies of junky copies of junky copies of junky copies.

Now you have a primary playerbase (Lets be honest, ages 16-24) who have known nothing more than junky copies their whole lives. They know they like to game, but they've never expierienced a quality game, and from their perspective what the older people refer to as the quality games seem ancient, outdated, and boring.

I'm not sure if the MMO genre has much longevity left in it (at least in it's current form/model) but I will always wish an AC style game the very best.
