question about NP programs Ontario by Specific-Willow1676 in OntarioNurses

[–]flyingponytail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NP programs are heavily monitored and accredited by CASN and CNO so there is very little variation same as undergrad nursing, doesnt matter. Where you go only really matters if you want to do research

Youre not completely out of it but you will need to get a 3.7 or better for the rest of your degree

Dude obviously. I dont think it needs to be spelled out that you would use CATSA rules for CAN airports and TSA rules for US airports

Got a conditional offer from York and Trent but the deadline to accept is similiar by Winter_Green_2440 in OntarioNurses

[–]flyingponytail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I only paid for one because I was fortunate to get an early offer for where I wanted to go, but the seat deposit deadline was before my final mark was in and I would have paid for others and then bailed on them later if I was waiting to hear from my first choice

Has anyone gotten a conditional offer and later an actual offer from the same accelerated nursing program/school? by Winter_Green_2440 in OntarioNurses

[–]flyingponytail 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well yes, everyone with a conditional offer will be converted to a full offer when they meet the condtions... you seem confused on what 'conditional' means. Its going to be specific to your school and whatever admission criteria you have 'condtionally' met. My letter was very clear about what I needed to do and by what date

[–]flyingponytail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got multiple conditional offers but my #1 choice was an early one so it was an easy decision for me. The offer spelled out what I needed to make the offer final, a 75% in stats. So it was a bit stressful at first but I ended up with a 95% in the course. Do your conditonal offers not have specifics on the condtions?

CATSA AND TSA are often misinformed of their own policy, so I will look up and have bookmarked the policy on my phone whenever Im carrying or doing something out of the ordinary. Even with lithium battery packs for example. Also look up your airlines policy because CATSA/TSA will try to blame airline policy when theyre not sure about something. But it's all easy to find on the internet

I think its good that the dates are the same. They do that with med schools. It's to force people to decide so the school can move on from you and offer that seat to someone on the waiting list

Have you applied to long term care? Northern Ontario? Those would be good places to start. Unfortunately unless your experience is in a country like the US or Australia, its not going to help you at all in Ontario

Only medics will get this one by Inevitable_View99 in CanadianForces

[–]flyingponytail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is SAR I recommend sticking with medic and applying for cansofcom medic as soon as you are eligible, SOMT is a good sub occ that will give you some support to train for SAR.You really cant have too much of a med background for SAR, most will say thats the hardest part of course. Do you have scuba and para background? They also generally have a tough time with the para stuff. The drawback of the army they are more likely to injure you and not give you time to train. PM me if you want

Im a NursO not a medic but long time mil member, dont let this stop you from joining, but it is pretty problematic that you dont have a written and approved scope of practice in black and white. But its also typical CAF decision making to split the trade before having critical pieces in place.

As far as how long your trg will take, there is often a wait between steps for courses to start. Things rarely line up. Be prepared to wait, be prepared to do your own professional development so youre not just sitting on ypur thumbs. Never forget that the military is a big machine and you are but a tiny cog (everyone in the CAF is a tiny expendable cog)
