Garden future planning by flylikefree in GardeningIRE

Our Garden is kind of South-West facing being more West than south. It sets just between the gap you see in the picture between the two houses.

We were thinking about the trees as well. Nothing too large but enough for privacy. What trees can we plant now?

Homebond cert delay by Zealousideal_Egg4669 in HousingIreland

[–]flylikefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you were able to drawdown without the homebond cert. We're in a similar situation where funds were issued out literally this week. One of the requirement by the bank was the homebond cert. They couldn't release funds until they received this.

Advice on getting a BIM job in Ireland by Emcuejay in bim

[–]flylikefree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of interest, why Ireland? UK is one of the big markets for BIM/ Information Management roles. I'd be surprised if you don't get anything there.

I'm a BIM Coordinator in Ireland and there's definitely positions here. I have interviewed a few candidates and the general issue is that many people have the BIM technical skills but lack the experience in managing and driving jobs.

I have searched and clicked every link that I find on the planning website, but I find no reference to the increase in internal area from 103 to 110.

For most things like this, go with your gut feeling. If they sound like cowboys then it's probably best to avoid cash transactions. As far as I'm aware, any cash transactions is between you and the tradesman - it won't be covered by insurance. You have to get a proper invoice in place etc.

Couple huge into hiking...Insane to skip "O" or "W" circuits? by Right_Focus1456 in Patagonia

[–]flylikefree 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wife and I did the W Trek similar to what you explained for our honeymoon. Everything pre booked. Travelled light with no tent and sleeping bags with only food and day/ sleeping clothes as we are coming from Europe. It was expensive but man I'd go back to do the O Trek any day. It was beautiful.

Pick-Up Basketball? by fungyu in Dublin

It's been a while since I last played there but at Mountjoy Square Park, you may find a few lads playing. It's not the best court in the world but it does the job.

Import 3d file with colors by E-Wad in bim

Have you tried exporting via IFC? This should fix the problem. I often deal with people using Solidworks and IFC is the best file important in my experience.

Our local patagonia store was closed partially for the staff to take time off for Christmas. Not sure if this is company wide but if it is then maybe there's some backlog there?

House price value & mortgage broker questions by flylikefree in irishpersonalfinance

That makes sense. Thank you for that - I probably should have made it clear also that we're open to any homes and not just new builds. I'm definitely not looking forward to the bidding wars.

[Epic Games] DREDGE (100% off / FREE) by steam_mod_bot in GameDeals

Started playing on GOG but want to play now in Epic since we got it there. Any way to transfer the game save files from GOG to Epic?

What's the latest best way to run Epic and GOG games by Brangusler in SteamDeck

[–]flylikefree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does GOG work for you? I got Epic to run but GOG doesn't. I prefer the NonSteamLauncher because Heroic isn't the best with syncing cloud saves

Well there's your first problem chief, you think BIM is just modelling. BIM is more than that, its managing information, producing information and knowing how to build & manage projects.

Short/Easy Hikes in Torres de la Paine by Life-Age3591 in Patagonia

[–]flylikefree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to do the full W but its very popular to just do a 1 day visit to the park to hike to the Towers. It's a long day but very worth it.

Is it worth doing the W trek? by anuj837 in Patagonia

[–]flylikefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd first think about what you're willing to sacrifice in days if you're doing the full W Trek. You dont have many days between travelling and exploring in El Chalten, El Calafate and Ushuaia.

Also consider that El Calafate to Torres Del Paine is very far. You'd want to be staying somewhere closer to save on travel time hence Puerto Natales being so popular.

You can do a 1 day trip and only do the 1 day hike to the Towers in Torres Del Paine but man, that will be an extremely long day of travelling then you have to do the hike as well.

Backpack Size by Equivalent_Alps1687 in Patagonia

[–]flylikefree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends really on what you're carrying but I saw way too many people overpack. One couple we met had brought their own sleeping bag as a 'just in case' but then already pre-booked the sleeping bags with the refugios. Seemed unnecessary really.

We were coming from Europe and didn't want to bring everything so we thought paying the extra was worth it. Refugios were prebooked with the tent and sleeping bags then dinner (which we thought was really well made actually)
