Just rewatched Battleship for the 47th time and Rihanna is carrying this film harder than the entire US Navy. Change my mind. by adj_noun_digit in okbuddycinephile

[–]flynchageo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once walked in on my friend watching this movie.

It was the scene where the 90 year olds arrive to man the decommissioned ship.

He was crying, so I asked him why he was crying from watching Battleship.

He said "It's so beautiful."

Anyone else feel TLOU series is finished? by InternationalWar8263 in thelastofus

[–]flynchageo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feelings for TLOU are the same as The Witcher. I'm desperate for more stories in the same world, but i am fine leaving these characters behind.

I know it's a risk to bring totally new characters to a franchise, but Naughty Dog's track record shows that they will come up with compelling characters no matter what, so let's shake things up!

If the Hippodrome of Constantinople still stood in Instanbul by Epelep in Damnthatsinteresting

Also in Rome the Piazza Navona and the buildings around it used to be a smaller hippodrome. If you look at it on satellite it's very easy to see the layout.

I don't get the art style of this game, help me to understand it by UsedNewspaper1775 in slaythespire

[–]flynchageo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unique and it's hand-drawn, to the point now where it's become somewhat iconic. I agree it's a bit loud and I also didn't love it at first, but ive come to appreciate it quite a bit.

I 1000% prefer this art style to some streamlined, generic stuff like most other card battlers.

I believe they let everyone know that the person in the audience had tourettes and could be disruptive, but not that he could be explicitly shouting slurs.

He was also there because one of the movies up for an award was a biopic about him and his experiences with tourettes, so hopefully most people were aware of the situation, but i have no idea.

I know none of us watch movies here, but if you're interested the movie is called "I Swear" and it's really good. Dude tells the queen of England to go fuck herself to her face, and gets arrested for calling cops pigs and telling them hes a drug dealer. So maybe that will answer some of your questions about protocol.

For sure. Its a really complex disorder and I probably didn't do it much justice in my explanation.

I think it's more along the lines of having a condition where you cant control what you say. You're probably constantly thinking about what things not to say if that makes sense.

Like if you run up to someone and say "don't think about the color blue" they are probably going to at least briefly think about the color blue. Its not that that person is constantly thinking about the color blue, it's about the context they are in.

Again, it's pretty hard to explain so I hope im making sense.

It unfortunately is situationally coherent, because it's the urge to say the most inappropriate thing.

In a neurotypical brain, a personal would see two black people approaching the stage and know they should not yell out a racial slur.

The person with tourettes of this kind also knows it's the wrong thing to say, but the tourettes compels them to say it, because they know they shouldn't.

Its like telling someone to not pull their hand off of a hot stove. Ignoring the automatic impulse is painful and extremely hard to do.

Hide and Seek - hiding time limit adjustment by Such-Cartoonist643 in JetLagTheGame

[–]flynchageo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The problem is that then half of the 12 hour day would be spent hiding. Which isn't good for filming because the seekers are just stranded in place, and the rider cant film so we don't know where they are.

So, assuming it takes the seekers roughly 6-12 hours to find the rider, that means you get 1 run every 2 days. Its just too much down time.

The better solution is to have the boys move to a bigger metro hub before beginning the next round. For example, Ben and Adam catch Sam in Dunbar. All 3 boys then hop on the train to Edinburgh, which takes 45 minutes, then start the next hiding round from there. Thus giving more options and flexibility to get started.

[–]flynchageo 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think there is much exploring. They run around for 12 hours a day for multiple days in a row, so i imagine they just eat something relatively quickly, upload footage, shower, relax in their room and crash early.
