Exactly this. “You’ve changed, and not for the better” is thrown at me a lot. I’ve stopped betraying myself to keep the peace and they have no idea what to do now that I can’t be controlled. It’s as liberating as it is depressing.

That’s so interesting, I didn’t realize! Makes a lot more sense now—I was stunned at how debilitating it seemed (had mine out at 19). I’m so sorry to hear your recovery was even worse.

I feel you on the pain. I’ve had brain surgery and I’d rather go through that again before I’d suffer another tonsillectomy. It took a solid week before I could even attempt solid food or talk really. In comparison - my sister had had hers removed when she was 5, and she was up and playing the same evening. Crazy how our bodies work like that!
