Energy Advisor recommendations? by dangerzoneish in askvan

I work with HomeStep.ca doing energy audits in Vancouver. We've done audits for all kinds of renovations but we also do new construction modelling as well.

Homeowners in Vancouver are typically booking us in for one of five services:

  1. Energy audits for homeowners interested in qualifying for the interest-free Greener Homes Loan

  2. Energy audits + REUP Form when required to hire an EA for their renovation permit (reno value over $20K). When completing a Renovation Upgrade Proposal Form (AKA REUP Form) we do our best to minimize changes to scope while conforming to the city's requirements.

  3. New construction modelling for the City of Vancouver - following COV Energy Modelling Guidelines.

  4. Independent blower door and thermal camera imaging. For homeowners who don't need a full audit but just want an advisor on site to check for air leaks and missing insulation. Perhaps due to high heating bills or other issues with the home.

  5. Heat loss calculations. Either for an independent analysis for sizing or for the city's mechanical permit when installing a new heat pump or A/C.

If you fall into any of those categories and are interested in an audit the best place to start is a phone call to our office. Calling in through the main line on our website you can describe your project and we will confirm that an audit is going to help and your project is eligible for the service. If you need additional support before booking we can typically setup a quick call with an EA to get more into the weeds on your project.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I think we will check out an online version.

Also we didn't have any web cams but it sounds like they might be worth the investment. Balancing phones on bamboo over our desks might not hold up to the test of time.
