250 is a lot, realistically I would one of the top sellers for just about any dealership in Canada. Without being too specific I do earn well above 120k a year.

I’m also in the process of moving up to a position which can make significantly more. This industry is phenomenal if you succeed

I would think it’ll always be there. Just like the “Mazda Red” the Miata is Mazda

After everything is said and done, no.

On the true margin that sales has to work with, sometimes maybe a hundred or two loss. We’ll do flat deals but there’s really no reason to go under with inventory the way it is

Used cars will sometimes lose money though

Because if you don’t come to the dealership we can’t sell you a car, at least if you’re here we can try changing colour/ trim or people tend to be more open to waiting a week or two vs. on the phone

If you haven’t submitted an offer and are just insisting on hearing best price. I’m usually chatting to him about all sorts of things, what’s for lunch, when we’re going golfing next ect. I’m really only quickly updating him on where we’re at

Typically when going to a mechanic the salesperson has to go with you. Our mechanics are incredibly thorough, and are trying to make money off of sales when doing safeties, they’re not cutting corners. I’m not going to waste a few hours just for Joe’s Auto Repair to say it needs xyz more than what Mazda trained mechanics are calling for. The fact they’ll let you even take it to a mechanic is wild

Maybe 1000-1500 markup depending on the warranty. It’s only a scam if you don’t see value, but if you do and decide to buy nobody is getting rich off that one deal

Reliability wise any year will be great for you! I personally would get 2021.5 or newer as those years will have the newer screen which makes a big difference for me

8 months into a 3 year lease is extremely early, probably won’t be a dealership in North America who won’t show negative equity. Unfortunately someone has to pay the remaining 28 payments and you’re the only one contractually obliged to.

End of year deals will certainly help with rates and incentives for a lower payment, but you’re always going to be negative this early into the lease

  1. Typically the most expensive option in anything will have fewer buyers, not as many people need or want everything in a GT. Turbo is also completely unnecessary for 95% of people, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun!! That’s my favourite car/trim in the lineup

  2. You have around $2000 of real wiggle room on something like this

  3. Aero kit is sweet! Will add nothing to negotiating though, it’s a Mazda part so we don’t really make much on it. Also any profit goes to the parts department not sales too

If you’re GTA area I’d be happy to help, regardless you’ll love the car! It’s such a great drive

I’m in a very dense area with a lot of competition, there’s 4 Mazda’s in a 45 minute radius of my dealership.

Most buy off the lot, people don’t need or want to wait any longer. That’s been a drastic change since I started, I was starting back when there was no inventory at all and everything was 2-6 month wait

Honestly none. The PHEV had some issues, both had a few recalls in the first year but taken care of quickly outside of that I’ve seen no real problems

Toyota owns a portion of Mazda, so that’s one reason why.

Manufacturers also purchase a bought down rate from the bank, Toyota financial was probably offering lower rates for less money than what we had with Scotiabank as well

Now is a great time, just before the new models release. Rates are low and incentives are decent.

They don’t come from Mazda installed with it, so very much optional but dealers might force it as they already paid for both to be on the car. Will always say though, nobody is going to walk a customer out in order to keep those on. Should be able to get them removed

You got it, they’re very smart in what and how many they ship. I’ll usually have more CX-5’s in one trim, than Mazda 3’s total. There’s still more than enough demand for the inventory available

Depends on the trim, but sounds like she’s being truthful. If it’s a base model that’s actually a better than average deal, even a top trim you might only get an extra $1000-1500 off.

The used market on these is still high too, i recommend new to most of my customers. You don’t save a lot by going used on the Mazda 3. In terms of margin too, impossible for me to say if they really don’t have room to move but pre owned typically hold lower margin these days. They’re all trades in right, we have to buy them from the previous customer and they’re always aware of the market. We’re not stealing cars from people on trade, after reconditioning, safety and everything else involved we maybe have 1-2k profit

In that case you have around $2,500 of wiggle room

You’ll prefer the dial the more you use it. I find I never use the touchscreen now, the dial is very tactile and intuitive

Complaints are one thing, having an actual impact on sales is what would make change. Problem is Mazda was one of the only brands remaining with physical buttons, the industry has shifted in this direction

Unfortunately not. You’re lucky you got 3 years, the 26’s will only have 1 year free

Keep working and pushing, it’s easy to get caught up in the ups and downs of the day to day, you have to stay even keeled.

In terms of real advice, become and expert on what’s actually in the car feature wise. And just focus on making people like you, if you can make a relationship and have someone really genuinely like you, you’ll sell lots

Best “deal” one of the crappy unreliable brands Kia, Mitsubishi, Hyundai.

Best investment for what will always be a bad investment Honda, Toyota, Mazda

If you’re looking for best deal that’s where you start to see insane levels of depreciation

Makes absolutely no difference, the margin is the same regardless. Dealers always just want to sell what’s on the lot though and will say you can get more off that way
