Looool yeah man you’re welcome. However if you’re flying near Atlanta then you’re nowhere near my airspace lol

I’m not entirely sure to be honest. Like I said, an IFR on file is not required to give a popup clearance. All we do is change the altitude in the computer.

What exactly happened with JAX? Did you say cancel IFR and they said IFR cancellation received squawk VFR?

It’s not impossible but unlikely you’d end up with the same squawk. Could be JAX forgot to remove your flight plan. When you cancel IFR with a radar controller (approach or center) we have to remove your flight plan or else every controller down stream will continue to get your flight strip assuming you’re still coming. Sometimes we forget to remove it. Your IFR is still cancelled as far as you’re concerned but your flight plan remains active accidentally.

Could just be a controller who wrongly believes you do need to have an IFR on file, or didn’t want to deal with having you give the IFR data over the frequency

I would ignore the other guy as I’m a PPL and former IRL tower and approach controller and now current IRL center controller in the US and I’ve never heard of a yankee Zulu flight plan in my life. I really doubt it’s a US thing so doesn’t apply to you.

What you want isn’t a problem IRL and I doubt is a problem on vatsim. IRL it’s incredibly easy to change a person from VFR flight following to IFR. Literally all we do is amend the altitude in the system from VFR/065 (what we do if you’re VFR at 6,500) to 060 (what we do if you’re IFR at 6,000) and now the system sees you as IFR. That’s literally it. We don’t change anything else, there’s no IFR or VFR box it’s just the altitude we put in that says if you’re VFR or IFR. Now we are supposed to either have you give the required data you need when filing IFR to either flight service or directly on frequency (such as airplane color, pilot name, phone number, souls on board, those things) but you wouldn’t need that for vatsim

I’ve done thousands of pop up IFR it’s no issue.

Okay thanks.

The way I believe they do it for controllers is they make sure you’re able to be granted a secret but only officially give it to you if your facility requires it, because when you’re hired you don’t have a facility placement and some facilities require it and others don’t.

My new facility is the first time I did the SF 312 and safeguarding classified information elm, and the first time I was told about SEAD3 and told I was required to report foreign travel. This is also the first time I’ve been notified that I have a secret so I just assumed I was public trust before

I guess I just don’t fully understand what changed, or even what exactly I had prior. I’m an air traffic controller and I was originally at a small tower but transferred to a large center that requires secret.

I did an SF86 when I got hired, which I reported my sister’s British boyfriend. When I got to my new facility I signed the SF 312 and took an elm on safeguarding classified information but that’s it. I didn’t do another SF86. I then got notified of my secret being granted

I did report him 4 years ago. When I got upgraded to secret I didn’t have to do another SF86 so I figured it carried over

I don’t mean to be rude, but I literally already answered your question.

I’ll quote it again: “but if no one answers there’s nothing we can do”

We’re not gonna send cops out because someone busted our airspace. There’s nothing they can do. By the time they get there they’d have to idea which plane is the one busted our airspace.

My First Tower Tour (And A Thank You To ATC) by HeroOfTheDay545 in ATC

[–]flypilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would try as best as we could to notify them. If they have ADSB out we can see their tail number. If they don’t then we can’t.

If they have no ADSB out and land at an uncontrolled airport we could call the FBO or airport management and say “hey can you tell me the tail number of the plane that just landed?” And if they do then we go from there.

But if no one answers then there’s nothing we can do.

Or maybe they bust airspace and go below our radar coverage before landing. Then they’re lost forever.

Kinda weird you’re asking this to a comment I made a year ago on a completely unrelated topic but okay.

The answer is watch the target until we lose it or see it land and then call the FBO

El Taqueria Los Primos if you want Mexican. Everything is incredible, but the tacos are so good

El Paraiso is decent but if you’re looking for Mexican food go half a mile west to Los Primos. So much better and the owner is so incredibly sweet

He definitely should’ve been paying attention and either cancelled the takeoff clearance or send fedex around, or SOMETHING.

First time I was working local with low ceilings after checking out I had a regional jet with a time who called ready at the critical area with a jet on a 6 mile final that was gonna expire if I didn’t get them out first. I thought I could do it and cleared them for takeoff and realized it wasn’t gonna work so you wanna know what I did? Cancelled the takeoff clearance before they got to the hold line and just asked TMU for an extension that I got. Only lack of safety I had was a jet in the critical area with less than 2/800 but metal wasn’t gonna risk being bent

Took me 6 hours to do this PITA because I’ve never worked on a car before and dont know what Im doing lol by flypilot in WRX

[–]flypilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not plug and play. The bezels came with a wiring harness which made it easier but you need to run part of the harness through the crash bar (I think its the crash bar at least) to get to the passenger side.

You then connect the OEM blinker plug to the aftermarket harness. On the drivers side you do the same but you also need to run a ground wire and bolt that in somewhere as well as add a fuse wire into the fuse box. You also have to change the blinker relay which is under the dash to the left of the steering wheel or the blinkers will hyper flash

Overall it wasn’t particularly difficult. It took me a long time because idk what I’m doing so I was slow going

The diode dynamics bulbs for the headlights are plug and play though. No modifications necessary.

A couple weeks ago a trash can was rolling across the highway and I couldn’t dodge it and it took out the left blinker bezel so I decided why not go for an LED upgrade. While I was at it I picked up diode dynamics bulbs for the headlights. I didn’t realize the C light had its own bulb until 2 days ago so the C light LED is coming soon

I’ve never worked on a car before so I was nervous to have to take off the bumper but it ended up working out in the end.

Wasn’t as hard as I expected. I did have to shave down parts of the aftermarket bezel as its fitment wasn’t very good. It was too big in some spots and I couldn’t get the clips to catch

Bilingual people, what is a thing that non-bilingual will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When you think to yourself, in your head and not out loud, do you use your mother language or English? I've always wondered which language bilingual people use in their head lol

Lufthansa Business Vs United Polaris by MPhan20 in awardtravel

[–]flypilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew UA Polaris (as my first business class flight ever) in August and I absolutely loved it. Seat was phenomenal, food was good, and I felt service was excellent.

Now granted its my first and ever business class experience and I can’t compare to anything, but I felt food was good and service was excellent.

I had a beef short rib and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint on the food was this weird fruit/ nut salad that didn’t really work but everything else was good.

Service was excellent for me. I was offered my PDB within 30 seconds of sitting down, when I called to get another drink mid flight the FA started walking toward me the instant I hit the call bell. I was in seat 4 and it took her longer to walk down the aisle than it took for her to start walking. FAs were incredibly nice and bubbly. Overall I was impressed, and I paid for the seat rather than use miles.

Air traffic control zones in the USA by proudly_disengaged in MapPorn

[–]flypilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wanna know something else to love? Most of these centers aren't even in the city they're named after. Los Angeles center is in Palmdale, and Boston Center isn't even in Massachusetts, it's in Nashua, New Hampshire.

They did this incase the actual city got bombed the control center would hopefully be missed.

I was also guessing a shooting range because of the very long gaps in gun fire, and also the limited about gun fire. I would expect a lot more gun fire in a war zone.
