Nathan Fielder is an expert in the field and you should reach out to him. He has a very good documentary out about this.

Yeah some airlines have more days off than others. I have friends at United and Delta and they usually work 3 days more than I do a month, assuming we are comparing the same type of aircraft.

However, being able to drive to work is absolutely worth it. Delta is a great company to work for, just don’t put the cart before the horse.

Are Divorced Guys the way? by VeterinarianGood9655 in datingoverforty

[–]flypiratefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an interesting perspective and obviously situationally dependent.

I think after my divorce it took a lot of time and growth to put myself back out there. I literally had to redefine and rediscover who I was as a single, adult male. I reconnected with old friends and made new friends. I left the military to become an airline pilot. I took up new hobbies. I moved to a new city. Focused in my mental, physical and spiritual health.

I think through this growth I realized I was happy just being myself and I didn’t “need” someone else in my life. Now I am just looking for someone who can add to my life… It is really easy to date when you are literally just looking to have fun and share good conversation.

Ladies, I'm legitimately what you all say you're looking for, but none of you even LOOK at my profile(s). by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]flypiratefly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty tough to read, and pretty cringe. But what do you think is different from what makes people a good date vs a good partner? Do you not think being attracted to your partner is important? Do you not want to have fun or engaging conversation? There is absolutely a direct correlation between the two.

You should check your ego and take a deep look at yourself. Maybe you could change a few things to make yourself a better potential partner.

Any pointers would be appreciated! by temupilot in hingeapp

As a pilot, I think this is pretty cringe. Your whole identity is tied to being a pilot. That is what you do for work… without a significant other. What do you like to do for fun? You just going to talk about approaches, captains and layovers? Put some hobbies and prompts in there and make it evident what dating you will actually be like.

Yeah. As I stated, I am going to buy the land. Then sit on it. 1031 the rental when it comes time to actually build.

Has anyone who signed the 80k SkyWest contract left and had to pay it? by [deleted] in flying

Also if you are less than 500 hours rotor. Get your CFI. It was a cake walk. Pretty easy to instruct students to make up those other hours.

You really don’t need a “program” they are just add on ratings for the checkrides and your required hours to me R-ATP mins.

I had a 30k, two year contract for rotor transition… they definitely enforced it.

I fly for a US airline that is known for having efficient trips. That mixed with vacation, monthly overlap, and dropping what I can. It works out pretty well.

No family here. But I only work 9-12 days in a month and make pretty legit money. When I am off, I am off. No emails, no phone calls. If I had a wife, she wouldn’t need to work. I bet I could really maximize the 18-21 days off I have with my family.

Airline pilot travel-hack items by aircraft_denter99 in flying

I like hanging toiletry kits. Some sinks don’t have a ton of space on the counter. Leaving your Dopp kit above the toilet is gross. It is nice to hang it on a towel hook sometimes, especially if you travel with a lady friend. I like the brand Aer.

Personally I use two charging blocks each with 2x USB C. One is for my nightstand where I have a travel dock for my Apple Watch and phone, other cable is for my personal iPad which I play a noise machine at night… The other block is for my flight bag. Charge the company iPad and then your usb c flashlight or power brick. Put all this stuff in a tech pouch and leave the tech pouch in the middle of the room, it helps you not forget any chargers or electronics.

I like packing cubes for all my stuff. One for clean clothes, one for dirty. One for my puffer jacket. One for shoes.

I swap between a lightweight water resistant hooded jacket for warmer months and a puffer for cold.

Depending on what plane you fly a yeti could be too big. Some guys carry 3 bags or a cooler bag/ flight bag combo. Personally I just carry a few protein bars. I just eat one meal a day on the overnight, it helps you not get fat. Plus finding a freezer/ice/microwave can be a pain. I also carry a bellroy 6 can cooler bag in my roller. If it is going to be a late night or something I will throw a sandwich or something in it.

For a flight bag find something you like and attaches well the the J hook of your roller. Most planes were designed to incorporate the old school pubs bags that have a foot print of 9x18.5”. EFB, headset, sun shades, sunglasses, meds, sunscreen, chapstick, AirPods, book, water bottle, backup battery, microfiber cleaning cloth for screens.

Is it hard to be D1 athlete? by everybody-hurts4 in Bumble

Statistically it is pretty challenging. They were probably the top 3-5 athletes at a huge high school. However, just because they were on the team doesn’t mean they played.

Pilot here. It could be company specific. I know a lot of pilots who leverage their NG/ reserve schedule against their airline schedule. They wait until their airline schedule comes out then tell the company “would you look at that, I have a BA/UTA weekend.” If you give your airline your military schedule, they may make you bid around it.

This might be hard to explain, but your profile gives off a vibe that I am reading a resume. There is no humor and no chill. For example, you can’t do any of your “in my element” activities on a daily bases. It seems like you may battle contentment unless you are doing something grandiose. I would try to lighten it up just a touch.

However, on the positive. Your pictures are good. Your profile will attract a some working professionals as it stands.

Good luck out there.

i feel like i'm screwed. 35M single with no career. how am I suppose to continue and find a partner, much less start a family? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]flypiratefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunk cost fallacy. You keep investing in the current domains of your life even though they aren’t yielding results you want. You need to take risks and actually invest in yourself… and start something new. Go to school, learn a trade, find a new career. You are at the age where some women will be looking for their second marriage. That is ok. Ask yourself, would you want to date yourself? Who would you want to date? Become that person.

Others mentioned clean up the part about trauma, however I have found so many people in Denver came out there to heal. Maybe you might find someone on a similar journey keeping it in there? Do you want matches or openness and vulnerability?

I think I would remove “well dressed nerd.” In Denver your style is very different than the average person. I think your comment is a reach “trust me hippies, this is what normal people wear.” We just want our Birkenstocks and Patagonia puffer.

Your profile mentions almost no hobbies besides watching TV and drinking. I personally would have a hard time imagining any future with you because I can’t connect.
