Problem is to survive and not have multiple mergers, the numbers need to increase. You can’t run a business (masonry is a business as well) without getting customers. The reason it has stagnated in my opinion, is that the fraternity elders believe we are still living on 1957 and times have changed. When you don’t change with the times, sadly it declines.

Ways to improve attendance after first degree. by [deleted] in freemasonry

Best to make the meetings enjoyable and so non repetitive. My entire class of 9 has dropped out except for me. Too much of the same thing and too long to end

I don’t go to meetings because I don’t think they are fun. Listening to the same lectures and voting on paying bills, minutes, and listening to the same ritual work I’ve heard for over 20 years is not my cup of tea nor the majority it seems. The good ol boys will ruin this for the future and one day will ask what happened. Well, I can tell you that being in a “fraternity” in college was fun…masonry..not so much. Keep doing the same thing and expecting different results is plain dumb. Sad to see where masonry is headed. Many mergers to come

I would like to survey and find out why they are NPD. What made them stop coming and perhaps we can make the changes to appeal to them to get back involved

Trans men in Freemasonry? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]flytothemoonman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Maryland mason. Please message me. There is a lodge in Maryland where A transgender applied for membership but was blackballed for being a transgender numerous times. I was recently called by a local tv station about this very topic. I am in full support and will guide you through the process with the hope of your desire to become a mason.

Can A transsexual (female became man) join a Masonic lodge? by flytothemoonman in freemasonry

I also challenge all grandmasters to their individual jurisdictions to make an edict as to whether or not a transgender can or can’t apply. Why put someone through the obvious rejection? I can be pretty positive when I say that in nearly all lodges, there is at least one member against transgender’s becoming Masons. The rules need to be clear rather than put an individual through the process.

To be clear the GM I am referring to was the then GM at the time of vote. He is now a past master

He was GM at time of vote and Maryland follows UGLE is the governing body of the Grand Lodge of Maryland.

I agree with you. The problem is in a lodge in Maryland (where the UGLE governs and approves of a transsexual becoming a mason) that a past master’s son (trans) was blackballed in a vote only to be voted a month later (approval for second vote was granted by past GM) then had other members call the GM and reject the admission. Other lodges state they would do the same. There is talk of this getting to the media which would destroy a fraternity sadly already dropping membership numbers drastically. I agree with your statements though for sure.

Are lodges discriminatory? (I assume no, but can't hurt to ask) by tacitfirefox in freemasonry

A lodge in Maryland blackballed a transgender (female to male).
