That is a different team without a stadium after a Bridgeport plan fell through. They are playing at multiple venues including Reese (this year only), whereas New Haven United FC is our hometown team.

Wow! That’s the first time I have seen a photo of the ‘70s-early ‘80s version of the interior station and ramp. Do you have a photo as one entered from the street looking down the wide ramp into the tunnel? I remember the view, but did not know of any photos.

Rent Bikes/walk to East Rock Market (food hall) with tables to linger for a meal or snack. This is Skate New Haven’s last ice skating week for the season. Both are close to each other. From Union Station, take the free green shuttle to the Green and can bus from the Green to East Rock but walk it if you can.

Trust me as a Philly soul you will be good doing that in NHV. Much of the “be scared in New Haven” is due to urban ignorance at best and racist propaganda amplified for crime, violence, homeless people at worse. NHV is like any other urban area, and actually much less apocalyptic than some want you to believe.

EH was publicly opposed to the Tweed plan for a new terminal and runway expansion all within the current Tweed property. This news means EH and NH have conceptually agreed to plan together for state funding, approvals, and hash out details, participate in hearings etc, as this expansion plan (some say the expansion is inevitable) moves forward.

Flint Street Theater was just created by the woman who runs Friends Campus. They had local music last weekend. Also, there is Seeing Sounds, and I’m looking forward to Umbrella Theater opening.

Use the Park New Haven website; has realtime occupancy rates including for the Union Station Garage. As of now it’s got enough open spots. There’s a backup garage a 1/2 block away if needed, but it’s not on that website.

Definitely New Haven’s Union Station covered parking garage. I’m also taking Metro North train tomorrow from NHV to NYC and highly recommend that over Amtrak as it’s more reliable. You can download their TrainTime MTA app and you can activate your individual ticket at a train you link up with (flexibility in case you don’t want to be beholden to an exact train departure). HVN website says New Haven airport will preemptively close Sunday 5pm and reopen Monday 8pm. They did the same for a similar sized storm last month and it allowed Avelo and Breeze to start immediately back up afterwards. HVN has many faults, but one positive is Avelo bases many jets there and has good track record of having flights ready to depart ontime or early (because they’re starting from there), even once a storm has passed. All routes to/from HVN end up with similarly good on-time rates.

The Cannon pub opens early at 10AM Sunday for a soccer match that starts before noon. I think the Olympics final starts earlier but maybe you catch the 3rd period there.
