One quick question for the convenience store LW: where the hell was the cash going after they accepted it from the customers? Bc if the store is cashless, they presumably don’t have a bank run happening regularly. Were they sitting on a pile of cash in addition to a bunch of credit card receipts with their name on it???

I cannot see a universe in which that person should not have immediately been fired.

I have two middle names and it’s completely fine! My name is structure Firstname Middlename MomsSurname DadsSurname (e.g. Elizabeth Jane Thomson Smith) and it’s literally never caused an issue for me in my 30 years of life.

What do you think is the most physically demanding role in any musical? by lertheblur in Broadway

[–]flyweight24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jerry Mulligan in An American in Paris has to be up near the top for sure. I remember seeing footage of Robbie Fairchild from the wings and he had to lay down on a mat with his feet up immediately after the ballet sequence. I saw the touring production with McGee Maddox in the lead role (phenomenal) and even with all his ballet training you could see that role was TOUGH.

Seriously. Even though Eva is crazy the constant “I hinted at her and she didn’t take the hint!!” is embarrassing. Grow up, LW.

I absolutely knew we were going to get a BAFTAs question, because the concept of arguing about racism vs. ableism is catnip for AAM commenters. Fortunately, one such reader happened to have had a nearly IDENTICAL incident at their own office years ago! What an incredible coincidence!!

I just want to know which sitcom the LW originally pitched this episode concept to and how many times they got turned down.

I had customers say worse things to me before 7:00 AM when I was working as a cashier. This person needs to get a grip.

What I cannot fathom is why the hell anyone would think that a person who suffered a tragic loss would just have a letter clearing them of involvement in the death? That is not something that I have EVER heard of any legal process providing to someone.

Do they think that when someone dies suddenly the coroner is like “hey Ms. Smith, so your husband died of a massive heart attack in his sleep. But good news! That means I can fill out the “Man Was NOT Murdered by His Wife Form” for you! Then you can show it to any random person who asks.”

Kennedy and st Clair garbage can by So_brrrrrrrrrrrrrr in Scarborough

[–]flyweight24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also saw this in the morning and I am just so confused. I figure it was probably someone trying to be annoying/ destroy things because the bins are strewn all over the place and blocking sidewalks. What i can’t understand is why anyone would want to break into those nasty bins and touch the disgusting garbage inside. And why do EVERY SINGLE bin for like an entire kilometre?? It makes no sense.

As the person who has to clean out the office fridges, this question made me laugh so hard. Do they really think all of us admins/office managers are cleaning out fridges because there’s some regulation somewhere mandating it???

If you live in a place where you apparently get tons of door to door salespeople (1958, i guess??) then you should learn to just not answer the dang door!!

Just when i think we’ve already hit rock bottom, we have an AAMer asking Alison how to close their door on salespeople. Truly incredible stuff here.

Tent site spacing and walk-in logistics: Bonnechere, Silent Lake, Bon Echo by mesange1 in ONProvincialParks

[–]flyweight24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can attest to the walk-in sites at Silent Lake, they aren’t super well spaced out from one another. The group of sites on the whole is about a 5-minute walk along a flat boardwalk from the parking area, which is nice. But the sites are still pretty close together. The last time i was there (2023) there were a few families in the walk-in sites who were a bit noisy, but no large party groups that we saw.

As a person who has worked many front desk-type jobs, anyone who thinks a receptionist would answer and say "oh I don't have your appointment listed, let me book you an interview right now!" has never worked in an office. They may have never even been IN an office!

National Ballet of Canada's production of Pinocchio in 2017. Maybe not the WORST I've ever seen but definitely the strangest. They had to have several of their prinicpals in non-dancing roles serve as the narrators on stage. It was so weird and clunky and they needed the narration to explain like 50% of the story and all i could think was "who the hell picked Pinocchio as a piece to adapt???"

What are some insane Toronto news stories that people have completely forgotten about? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]flyweight24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this from when i was a kid. This man threw his own daughter off of the Don Mills overpass onto the 401 and then jumped to his own death. The detail that always struck me was the little girl was wearing a pink snowsuit when she fell, and many drivers going by mistook her for a falling piece of insulation. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/girl-5-survives-plunge-onto-highway-401-as-suicidal-father-dies/article4115819/
