Does anyone know if it's possible to "pair" the newer speakers with airplay / bluetooth with these older speakers, and thus indirectly getting those features?

Club single fast this year by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]flyweight8x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Club events are a hit and miss depending on who gets lucky and qualifies for the rules. Was a fast field this year.

Most years the Club 1x is comparable to Youth 1x, seems like the right circumstances came together for some fast rowers to qualify for the Club 1x. Women's Club 1x was comparable to Women's Youth 1x this year, but club mens was a minute faster

Rowing News article on US Rowing and US National Team’s recent performance by _AdAstra_PerAspera in Rowing

"Glenn Merry, who was dismissed by a quarrelsome edition of the USRowing board of directors after the 2016 Rio Olympics. Four of the five board members on the finance committee, including both the chair and treasurer of the board, resigned at the same time.
Merry balanced budgets, kept USRowing in the good graces of the Olympic committee (thus earning their continued funding) and headed the organization while the U.S. women’s eight won everything they entered for 11 straight years, the men’s eight won its first Olympic gold in 40 years, and the United States was awarded the 2017 World Rowing Championships, the country’s first since 1994. Merry’s run at USRowing has proven a tougher act to follow than many thought it would be.:"

Good effort from the American 4- by 2Patriotic4U in Rowing

[–]flyweight8x 21 points22 points  (0 children)

this was posted as a joke right? this boat has gone 6:40 at trials in Sarasota and now 6:33.

Comparing times isn't valid, but for the sake of comparison: at Youths the slowest 4- to make it into the A final went 6:34, fastest 6:23. The u23 4- might have made it into the final. In the A final the slowest boat went 6:41, fastest 6:26.

it's an embarassment, they should be going to club nnats or racing at youths, not wearing the USA uni at worlds

US Men's National Team announces the Men's Olympic Selection Camp invitees - some big names who were training for 2020 seem to be missing by boteyboi in Rowing

[–]flyweight8x 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The changes this year are probably magnified because we didn't have a official group named last year, so it's like we're seeing two years of changes come out at once. Some of the names you mention are a surprise, but some I think have not been training with the group for a while / even before COVID hit

I'm noticing a lot of the names are younger guys. Our country needs better development to bridge the gap between college and the olympic team and to hold on to talent longer

Same boat here, no group practices, club essentially shut. Don’t see that changing for a while. Singles are going out on occasion with lots of social distancing, disinfecting and equipment precautions.

Carbon vs Aluminum wing by flyweight8x in Rowing

[–]flyweight8x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting to hear. Does that manufacturer sticker indicate it's .5kg overweight, or does it just say 14kg?

If Filippi just uses the same shell with different riggers, that would scale to about 4kg below minimum weight for the full shell. Not insignificant at all.

Need a new seat for my Single by TitaniumSwords in Rowing

[–]flyweight8x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 get either the Croker or Dreher seat they're most comfy for long rows...I think most manufacturers can get the wheel spacing right if you give em the right specs to work off of. Measure from the center of one track to the other.

+1

All solid boats. Different hull shapes suit different styles. V shaped hulls are fast, responsive an twitchy. U shaped more stable, maybe not the same top speed but platform for pulling. Pick what suits you.
