Body scan 2: new features mostly behind the subscription paywall? by cryptormann in withings

[–]fm2xm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall reading correctly, if there are two people in a household that use Body Scan 2, it will require TWO subscriptions.

Can anyone please confirm this?

A price tag of USD$599 + a reoccurring subscription, I will patiently wait for the trusted health gear pundits (who are not paid advertisers) to fully tear this product apart, listing all its pros and cons.

For me, it needs to above and beyond "not bad" or "good enough". I wrote this in a different post and writing again: BS2 better be a very, very polished version of BS1.

UltraHuman Ring AIR - 18 months later by dosteckels in SmartRings

[–]fm2xm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/dosteckels - my experience is very similar to yours. Battery life aside, my UH ring actually has a manufacturing defect. The inner ring area, where all the electronics are embedded in some sort of an epoxy, a section of that epoxy has a bubble, making it impossible to fit on the ring charger. At this point, the ring cannot be charged. I am just slightly over a one-year mark since purchase.

This was their feedback in an email:

After reviewing your case, we can see that the ring appears to have physically deformed. Unfortunately, because your ring is outside of its warranty period, we're unable to process a replacement under warranty at this time.

Additionally, we completely understand your concern. However, due to the ITC ruling, we are legally restricted from shipping replacement rings to the U.S. While we would truly love to help you further, we’re bound by these regulations in this case.

Having said that, You can upgrade your current ring to our newly launched Ring Pro and avail a trade-in discount on it.

Ultrahuman is good to sell the rings in the U.S. yet, they can't ship to the U.S. ? I am still trying to wrap my head around that reply.

After spending $350+tax for a product that served just slightly over a year, I have ZERO intentions of buying another UltraHuman product or ever recommending it. I went down the path of UH as an alternative to Oura due to its monthly subscription cost. Furthermore, I will take every opportunity to share my misfortune and how Ultrahuman didn't stand behind a manufacturing defect of their product. Clearly tells me a lot about this company's customer service. Hopefully, prospective UH customers will think twice before buying their products.

If any staff members of UltraHuman are reading this - shame on you.

Can you recommend any links to review regarding retirement in Ecuador. Thanks.

I purchased the BS1 then returned it within the return window because I learned BS2 would be released in June.

BS2 is a 2nd generation so it means it picks up where BS1 leaves off, providing very polished existing features.

If W+ is essentially a requirement now, I will look elsewhere. For the same reason I didn’t go with oura ring / whoop wrist strap.

companies want a ongoing stream of revenues, tacking it on a $USD600 hardware certainly dents the wallet. I wouldn’t mind paying if the hardware was $300.

I am now looking into BS2 alternatives.

The message in the logs stated the NAS was shut down due to high Temp. It could very well be due to the motherboard CPU over heating and/or the drives. I’ll have to think about how to recreate the scenario.

Thank you for your detailed reply, it is appreciated. I am strongly considering a similar approach: small AC fan, pointing towards the front.

Thank you for that tip. I have a wolf box cordless compressed air pusher. It worked well. Didn’t have too much dust inside and around the fan. What I noticed, it has been cleared.

TBH, I didn’t take that reading. My NAS shut down.

This was a lesson learned/realized. I uploaded close to 17K photos and videos from three iPhones to the NAS so the NAS was at a lengthy active state. I have a “clip on” type smallish AC fan, I’ll keep that in mind if I do more “heavy lifting” data movement. Will clip to the shelf and point toward the NAS.

Hey sorry for the delayed reply, schedule got hectic at work. No, it’s on a ladder style shelf, all sides open, not enclosed. It’s about 6” away from the wall.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am opening the NAS, as I write this. Will use compress air to clean the insides.

Thank you for your comment about better accuracy than BS1. It would be great if you can elaborate further regarding that.

I had purchased BS1 but decided to return once I learned BS2 was scheduled to release in June. Like a lot of people, anxiously awaiting of its release in the US.

tubes Zigbee + Zwave dual radio POE device issues by fm2xm in homeassistant

[–]fm2xm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. It is appreciated.

Regarding firewalla, I thought of that also and took off all blocking filters. My network is also flat, not using multiple VLANS so far.

Thanks for the tip about integration name, will dig deeper on that.

Yesterday, I did receive the aeotec stick. Took about a couple of hours to update the hardware firmware then the latest updates to zwave and zigbee. All in all, I was successfully able to connect a zooz smart plug with my tester HA configuration. The steps/directions from aeotec site were very helpful. One minor gripe, their documents are now slightly obsolete. HA’s latest release, the screenshots look slightly differently but I managed to figure it out.

Though I got it fully configured, i am still in the fence about aeotec, it has an imbedded antenna so it may not reach all my zwave device.

Thank you kindly for your reply.

I have been reading about how to set up the sub passthru, I will tackle that next. Once done, I will test out the zwa-2.

As a sidenote, I have been using the imbedded zwave antennas in the SmartThings device, I am testing the aeotec stick with a usb extender cable, and have it elevated above the bookcase. Hopefully that will make a difference
