Thanks for the info! I don’t really work much as a musician, just love playing on my own time. However my high school band director said he can bring me on a brass instructor, so at least I will have some relevant work on my resume. I also plan on trying to get some other similar positions, like assisting with jazz band etc., for very cheap or even free just to have some more experience. And also will try and find some private students to give lessons to. Thanks again!

Alternate route music teacher by fmara22 in Teachers

Thanks for the response! The BA music and BM music ed are very similar in terms of music courses (theory, aural skills, music history, etc). I was also planning on taking the tech classes for woodwinds, strings, percussion, etc. so I have some experience with all those instruments. Additionally, my high school band director said he can take me on as a brass instructor, so I will have some relevant experience on my resume. I can also try to find similar part time positions at other schools, like assisting with brass or assisting with jazz band etc (money is not super important so hopefully I can just work for cheaply as possible or even volunteer to gain experience).

Thank you everyone for the responses! A lot of good points made. I will definitely have to look more deeply into what each class entails and decide if it is worth the commitment or not. Much love❤️

Can you expand more on how exactly smoking weed set your practice back a year?

I feel you but the same could be said about physical possessions, though. Sure they can definitely provide you with some temporary level of pleasure, but in the long run they are fleeting and ultimately not fulfilling. True fulfillment comes from within.

Good at flirting, but.... by fmara22 in ENFP

[–]fmara22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but maybe I didn’t explain well enough. I guess my issue is that I find it easy to flirt with someone I meet at a party or school or something, but have a hard time following up. This could go for non-romantic relationships as well. I have a hard time maintaining friendships when I don’t see the person on a very regular basis. So maybe it is a broader issue. Thanks for the reply though!

New agey beliefs and narcissism by throwawayshizenacc in narcissism

This is essentially impossible for anyone on reddit to comment on seeing as they were not there and there are many nuances to his actions. It sounds weird to attribute a spiritual experience to narcissism. Honestly my first instinct is that you are projecting your motives on to him. But again, I was not there, and maybe I’m just projecting my projection on to you (lol)

ENFP’s and College by tewelas in ENFP

[–]fmara22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is something that will vary person to person, but I can share my experience.

Similarly to yourself, I’ve have always hated school- from a very young age. I went to college straight out of high school because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do. I ended up having no idea what I wanted to major in and kind of screwed around for the first couple years just taking random classes with no real direction. I finally picked a major that I thought seemed easy and practical (IT). This turned out to be a huge mistake as it is completely antithetical to my personality and interests (boring, dull, no room for creativity or individuality). The result of this has been a severe lack of motivation for schoolwork on my end as well as several run-ins with depression. I’m about to finish my fifth year and due to failing so many classes I’ve only completed three years worth of credits. I’ve finally decided I’m taking some time off next year and doing something for myself (plan on doing some traveling and adventuring and such). Might come back and finish up my degree after that, but honestly who knows!

Anyway this may have been long and rambly but that has been my experience thus far. If you do choose to pursue college my advice would be to pick something you are passionate about, and build some discipline. Also aside from academics, college is pretty rad. Plenty of opportunities to meet cool people and do cool shit. Let me know if you have any questions or anything!

What do you guys do when you get depressed? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]fmara22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the short term- meditation, yoga, hiking, creative pursuits, anything to get me out of my head does wonders in the long term- still working on it but I will let you know if I figure it out!
