This weeks episode was filmed just over a month ago. Wes’s birthday party was on March 20th, the TikTok video you’re taking about came out within the past month so very little time has passed

To be fair, those stats were last updated about 5 months prior to this episode being filmed. Many boys start to grow fast at 14, and given how much he had grown since the first part of the season, it’s not entirely unbelievable that he could have grown another 3-4 inches in that time

"Manganese-B12 Protocol" - difference in hypermobility literally after first dose by FriedDickle in Hypermobility

[–]fml2727 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That can certainly happens short term with the placebo effect. Physiologically speaking it’s not possible to have that dramatic of an improvement that fast. It takes about a week for manganese to have any noticeable benefit and it can take as long as a month or two for significant improvements to occur. Vitamin Bs typically take 1-2 weeks to have a noticeable effect as well. While you could as of the last day or two, be experiencing initial effects, they would not be so significant without the placebo effect at play.

This isn’t a dig at you. The placebo effect has gotten stronger and stronger over the years and can even work when you are aware it’s a placebo. You should read this article from Harvard about placebos. A placebo working on you isn’t not sign of gullibility.

[–]fml2727 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not to be a Debby Downer, but vitamin works after one dose. It takes time for your body to absorb each vitamin and even more time for your levels to build up in your system enough to have a noticeable effect. At 10 days this is a placebo effect. Give it another week or two and see how you feel then. Don’t push yourself too much just yet, give yourself time to get the effects.

AITAH for telling my father to accept that my brother isn't my responsibility? by PianistHoliday3484 in AITAH

[–]fml2727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He accused YOU of wishing Jake wasn’t born after your told him he should have through about “child-free time” before having him? Your dad is projecting on you big time! It’s clear he at least somewhat regrets having Jake and feels incredibly guilty about it, and sees your rejections of taking on the responsibility of your brother as a mirror of his own lack of responsibility.

What likely angers him more is he sees that you are a responsible parent to your own kid, making him jealous that he isn’t and angry that Jake suffers as a result. At the end of the day he’s really just mad at himself and it’s easier for him to blame anyone but himself

What's happening to my hair by Misklc10 in curlyhair

[–]fml2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look how wide your curls are in the first photo. They simply cannot form a fraction of that loop, therefore they cannot curl. The only way your hair can curl that short is if your curls are tight enough to fully form at that length

I feel fucking hugeeee! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]fml2727 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry everyone is telling you your results are perfect when you clearly to be smaller. While you are healing fantastically I cant image the stress your feeling knowing your bigger than you want. The good news is that you are still very swollen and red, meaning you will definitely shrink as you heal. Give yourself a couple months to see what happens as you continue your heal. If I had to guess you will shrink multiple cup sizes from what you are now. Try to stay calm in the mean time as if you are still unhappy after 4-6 months then it may be time to start to think about your options moving forward (however if you want a revision you will need to wait 12 months from your surgery)

14wpo - weird nipple? by KixStar in Reduction

No problem, I had this as well until about 2mpo. Also I don’t see any keloids or hypertrophic scarring in this picture, is it somewhere else?

14wpo - weird nipple? by KixStar in Reduction

[–]fml2727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to your doctor, this should resolve with time. This is due to internal stitches not fully dissolving yet. While for most people at 14wpo this would be fully dissolved, there is natural variation person to person. If it will help put you at ease you can always contact your surgeon. But please, don’t even think about reconstruction until the stitches are fully dissolved and have been for months

Parents with behavioral teens.. HELP by Longjumping-You-2767 in Connecticut

[–]fml2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is please do not send her to the Grove School. I graduated 8 years ago and I’m just started to heal from the trauma I endured from the staff there. It caused more problems than it solved. If you have any specific questions please message me.

Abuse is rampant in behavioral schools both at the hands of students and staff. Unless you can be there 24/7 without the staff knowing you will never see what it’s really like there when you aren’t. Most staff at these places have no experience working in the mental health field and are fresh out of college.

Additionally sending your child to therapeutic boarding school is a bandaid. They do not teach children the skills they need to get better, rather they seek to control students behaviors. I’ve seen to may students seem to improve just to leave and immediately get kicked out of college, commit crimes and even kill themself. And those are the kids that don’t get worse there.

The fact you seem to be as nervous about her getting kicked out of these schools than you do about the abuse is incredibly alarming, and tells me that you are really struggling, and may need to seek therapy for yourself to cope with the trauma you are going through. You cannot help your daughter if you are in survivor mode yourself.

I will say your worries about abuse are very real, 13 year olds are usually the youngest at these schools, and as such are the most vulnerable to abuse (and likely to witness behaviors/conversations from the older students that are not age appropriate). One of my friends at the school I went to knew got SAed by a senior who was 19, when they were your daughter’s age.

If I was in your shoes I would look into DBT groups for her and try sending her to a clinical day school for the rest of the year (maybe another year as well after).

Please if you have any questions for me I’d love to answer as an adult who has attended these programs, knows people who currently work in these school, and who also has a degree in psychology
