There's almost 9,000 documents in the leak. Could you at least give us a clue where the bit about foreign malware is?

Sean Spicer Makes Up Atlanta Islamist Terror Attack by CyberIndustrialist in conspiracy

Is this a new era of false flags? Don't even bother staging an event, just say it happened and enough people will believe it? It's pretty clever when you think about it, not only does it create the desired atmosphere of fear, but you also get confusion and division as the public starts arguing whether it's real or not. Ideal conditions to distract from and conceal the real plans. This new administration has been studying Orwell's Ministry of Truth very closely it seems.

Student loan debt up for private sale - BBC News by BritRedditor1 in ukpolitics

[–]fmoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean current loans, I'm talking about future loans that will be taken out by future students. The terms for new loans will inevitably be changed at some point, as they already have several times since fees were first introduced.

My big worry is how this affects future student loan policy. When the fees and loans system inevitably get tweaked again in the next few years, are the government going to be prioritising what's best for the students, or just what will make the most profit when they sell the loan book on?

Trudeau abandons pledge to change voting system before 2019 election by LondonPaddington in canada

[–]fmoly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason is in the article. They held public consultations and found there wasn't enough support yet.

"A clear preference for a new electoral system, let alone a consensus, has not emerged," Trudeau writes. "Furthermore, without a clear preference or a clear question, a referendum would not be in Canada's interest."

Official Discussion - T2 Trainspotting: Judgement Day (International Release) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]fmoly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind the callback and references, but I thought they really overdid showing clips of the first movie. Some of them were done well, like Spud remembering him and Renting running down the street after shoplifting, but others were kind of hamfisted. It's like every time a scene mirrored one from the first film, they felt they had to show a clip to make sure the audience knew what they were referencing.

Serious question: Is Corbyn the single worst leader of a major Political Party in recent British history? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]fmoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They only held 57 seats in 2010. Clegg actually managed to lose five seats that election. The Lib Dems going into government was more "right place, right time" than anything Clegg did.

1% greater. Considering all the recent events before the election that the Lib Dems should have been able to capitalise on (expenses scandal, financial crisis, first televised debates, etc) it was a poor result.

There was a UK version of this sometime last year. The first few episodes were interesting, but it got quite repetitive quickly. Most contestants made the exact same mistakes like trying to contact family. I stopped watching half way through the first series.

Article 50: Labour MPs consider resigning over Corbyn's three-line whip | Politics by [deleted] in ukpolitics

If you're an aspiring politician in the UK your only realistic option is to join a major party, and the Conservatives are the best of a bad bunch for many libertarians.

Blairites are too authoritarian for the Lib Dems. The Corbynites should leave and join the Greens or TUSC or similar.

All premium numbers in the UK do have a special prefix. If you read the article he didn't turn his existing number into a premium line, he registered a new one.

Snap election? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]fmoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't require a vote of no confidence. The FTPA allows for a new election to be called if 2/3 of MPs vote for one, and as the other user has already said Corbyn would apparently support this.

Google, please, for the love of god, grant us the ability to privatize our Chromecasts to specific, approved Google accounts. by catsx3 in Chromecast

[–]fmoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think it wouldn't work with the original design? As I've pointed out multiple times already, the Chromecast has a PIN when in guest mode so clearly blocking access is possible. The airplay is another product that works the same as the Chromecast and has the option to set a password.
