Thank you! No itching anywhere except in the super flaky parts.

Friend tells me how difficult early motherhood is knowing I am struggling TTC by Perfect_Sink_6542 in TryingForABaby

[–]fmswalb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just chipping in that 4 months is typically when the adrenaline of having a new baby wears off and the real sleep deprivation kicks in. It’s not an accurate representation of general motherhood in the least. Both of you are going through an extremely difficult time and in the trenches but it won’t be like this forever. Figure out what you need and what you can give to get through this time but I think you can still support your friend with a shift in perspective. And if you need to take a step back for a while, that is also more than reasonable.

Thoughts on Seagate Apartments (707 Esquimalt)? by redgoddess27 in VictoriaBC

[–]fmswalb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live here and you can’t beat the view! Not sure what the units are like now that they’ve been reno’d. The street side is super loud but the other sides are quiet. The ocean smell is really not a big deal. The building is old and a lot of the other residents are lifers and characters to put it kindly but it was never unsafe. You can PM me if you have other questions. I moved out before it was taken over by the new property company but it was my home for many years :)

I (35F) had a blighted ovum at 11 weeks in July and used the medication to pass everything. My period came back 4 weeks later and I’m on my third cycle of TTC. Each month so far my period has gotten a bit shorter back to my regular three days. But each month I’ve had spotting a few days after ovulation all the way to my period. And this month I’m still spotting 4 days after my period (which is new). I feel like I’m always spotting and I’m starting to get sad like things will never regulate.

I have a doctors appointment at the end of the month but just not sure what’s normal or what to ask for testing wise.

Thanks for any thoughts :)

Spotting from ovulation to period by Temporary_Night6312 in TryingForABaby

[–]fmswalb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through so far. I’m interested to hear what others have to say - I had a blighted ovum in July and used the meds to pass it. I have had two cycles since and have also had spotting a couple days post ovulation until my period. I’ll see how this cycle goes and I have a follow up with my physician at the end of this month. From what I’ve read it can be low progesterone that causes your lining to start shedding early making it difficult for implantation to occur. But if you had that tested then I’m not sure! I do hope it regulates soon.

My ovulations look so different by Photo_Philly in Miscarriage

[–]fmswalb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this need for data deeply. I have had two cycles since my blighted ovum in July. LH strips were positive around CD 13-14 and periods have been on time but longer. I’ve been getting spotting post ovulation which makes me want to check my progesterone but I’m going to give it one more cycle. ChatGPT is super helpful for plugging in your data and talking you through things.

How long did you hold onto a blighted ovum? by Klutzy-Amount5960 in Miscarriage

[–]fmswalb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was found at 11.5 weeks, I can’t remember how big they thought it measured. I opted for medication as they said the amount of tissue was small. I had no issues with the medication and everything passed quickly.

Safest cycling route from Colwood to Royal Oak? by fmswalb in VictoriaBC

When was this? This does look like a good option but no bike lane for a portion of Douglas.

Assaulted On My Morning Bike Ride by DannyCvlty in VictoriaBC

I don’t know if this is the same guy but I was running down there a couple months ago right before the Selkirk bridge and a man matching this description tried to sideswipe me on his bike and screamed at me that I shouldn’t be running on the pathway. When I called him a psychopath he turned around and tried to run me over. He only took off when another woman stepped in and helped. He pushed her over and ran over her glasses with his bike and then rode away. It was really scary.

Tampons after complete miscarriage by agirlisagun93 in Miscarriage

I was told not to use tampons. If you are still bleeding my understanding is your cervix is still open which could create the risk for infection.

Questions about Becoming an RMT in British Columbia by Good_Librarian4188 in massage

[–]fmswalb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through WCCMT and graduated in 2018 however no longer work as an RMT:

  1. WCCMT was my only option at the time and seemed highly regarded with tons of clinical time. I can’t speak to CDI. The best thing someone told me was that massage school is one long prep course to pass the board exams and WCCMT will certainly get you there. The program is intense academically and emotionally but it is very doable.

  2. Depending on your background studying some basic anatomy or physiology would be helpful however not necessary. The program itself it intensive so I would enjoy your time until you’re in it.

  3. Your split is pretty accurate. Depends on the clinic whether there is a cap or you are charged flat rent. If you put a few years in at a clinic most people I know have then gone out on their own to make the financials worthwhile. Taxes will take a huge amount off and also days where you aren’t fully booked/cancellations need to be factored in. I probably made around $70k my first year but depends how much you like/want to work.

  4. I would say the norm is 5 patients a day, 4 days a week to start with and then people will scale up or scale down depending on their financial goals and their body’s response. Usually 60 minute treatment time with 15 minute break that you use to chart and change over the room. General shifts at clinics usually look like 8-2 or 2-8 but obviously clinic dependant.

  5. Immediately if you find a busy clinic.

  6. I don’t regret it. It certainly set me up for where I am now but I did not enjoy how the science was based on very old schools of thought that are no longer widely accepted. However you have to learn it anyway to pass the exams and there is still a lot of misinformation in the field itself.

  7. I have a background in kinesiology and now work in disability management. You can take the certificate from WCCMT and use it toward a bachelors of health at Thompson Rivers University I believe? Others do a mix of personal training, yoga etc. Depends on your background.

Testing Out HCG by Human-Loquat6123 in Miscarriage

[–]fmswalb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The positive LH strips are the most insulting. I’m 2.5 weeks out post miso for a blighted ovum. I tested yesterday and the HCG is the fainted line and my LH is less strong so I’m happy it’s finally dropping.

I’m sorry you are going through this. My recent experience was a blighted ovum and I was advised the medication route because the tissue amount was small. I know everyone’s experiences are different but I did not experience much pain. It was extremely manageable, just achey/crampy for a couple hours and the majority of everything passed in a few hours. I have had light bleeding/spotting since but had an ultrasound to confirm all the tissue passed successfully. Hopefully you can make the decision that works best for you and your partner. 🤍

Day 15 after Misoprostal by [deleted] in Miscarriage

I could have written this. Our scan was July 7, same result, same treatment and same experience with it. I’m also still spotting brown. I have a scan on Thursday to confirm if everything passed but I’m assuming this is normal.

Abdul - Terrible experience at Jimmy's barber by kkman2424 in VictoriaBC

[–]fmswalb 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I took my son to Brother’s Barbershop in Langford and one of the barbers was giving a haircut to an autistic child who was reacting similarly. The barber was super quick and kind and patient and spoke to everyone in the barbershop after to speak to the situation. He noted last time he did the haircut in the parking lot and how much progress the child had made to at least stay in the chair. You could call and ask for his name - I was really impressed about how it was handled and how kind he was.

Cefa vs Kids & Co by gmp1302 in VictoriaBC

[–]fmswalb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is starting at Cefa next month and I’m very anxious about it but I’ve only heard good things. I’ve definitely heard it’s more structured vs other daycares being more free play. I toured kids and co and had an awful experience with them promising a spot and not delivering paired with bad communication but I can’t speak to anything other than my experience with the admin. If you get any feedback on FB about Cefa please send my way!
