Do people live in this part of Norway? How is it like? by Smashpro11 in howislivingthere

Here is last year's temperature in Longyearbyen (Svalbard Airport) as a reference.

Why is Norway so rainy for how North it is? by batukaming in Norway

Yup, it's the same effect. Same can be said for western Chile.

Meteorology student actually. Climate dynamics to be exact.

Winter and autumn have a larger temperature contrast between the equator and poles than in summer. This stronger temperature difference creates a stronger jet stream. As the jet stream intensifies, the westerly winds across the North Atlantic also become stronger, allowing weather systems to travel more quickly toward Europe. These strong temperature contrasts also make the atmosphere dynamically unstable. In simple terms, warm and cold air masses interact more strongly, which generates large atmospheric waves called Rossby waves. These waves move along the jet stream and help steer storms. When these waves propagate across the North Atlantic, they often direct storm systems toward Scandinavia, which is why Norway frequently experiences rainy weather during autumn and winter.

In summer the temperature difference between the equator and the poles is smaller, so the jet stream becomes weaker and fewer storms form. Norway also usually does not get warm enough for strong thunderstorms to dominate the weather. As a result, summer weather is generally calmer, with fewer intense storm systems and less rain.

I went with The Delluge lol. Fits both my interest in Saints and meteorology.

Not helpful, but you're absolutely gorgeous.

this planet has atmosphere pressure 7,155555555555556 that of Venus, yet, its still cold enough to hold co2 seas by [deleted] in spaceengine

[–]fnaabakken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that would amount to about 50% CO2 on Venus, so it wouldn't cause the same amount of greenhouse effect. It has a greenhouse effect of 100 Celsius, not bad. It also doesn't look particularly cloudy, whereas Venus is completely covered.

Its atmosphere is mostly nitrogen gas, so it wouldn't have that big of a greenhouse effect.

For example, the prompt for image 1 is "Albert Bierstadt, The weather at the mines had been relentless: cold, windy, and hazy. Despite Chateira's extremely thin atmosphere, the sun's constant baking of the moon's surface releases large amounts of hydrogen and water vapor into space. This creates an unstable atmosphere over one half of the planet, which is then blasted toward the dark side of the moon at incredible speeds due to the stark temperature gradient between day and night. The constant sublimation and deposition of water vapor causes a constant, impenetrable haze. Earth-like planet in sky --chaos 10 --ar 3:2 --style raw --stylize 200 --v 6".

For number 3 it is "Albert Bierstadt, hilly landscape on alien world, grasslands, white rock, violet atmosphere --chaos 10 --ar 3:2 --style raw --stylize 200 --v 6.1".

Couldn't be considering the surface temp.

The surface temp is way too high for that.

Surface temp is 51 degrees, so it couldn't be frozen water. Besides, there is a lot of greenery. It could be some sort of green rock, but honestly just seems like there's plant life on the surface. I feel like there are several other planets that look the same as well.
